    • 174,466. Baron, W. W. Nov. 6, 1920. Framework. - The wood packing or other bearing-piece c, Fig. 1, is held firmly locked against accidental displacement both sideways and endways in the brackets a, Figs. 1 and 4, for supporting. the pikes of loom warp beams by forming these with a dovetail recess b engaged by a corresponding projection on the piece c. The bearings may be of half-channel shape, the loom side forming one side of the bearing for the warp-beam pikes. The recess and projection may be square-ended; or the packing may be recessed so as to fit over a corresponding projection or over the projecting head of a screw screwed into the bracket; or the packing may be secured in position by a countersunk screw. The bracket a may be adjustably secured by a bolt and nut f to an elbow-piece a , Figs. 1 and 4 , which is bolted to the loom side, so that the brackets a at each side of the loom may be adjusted towards each other when the beam is shortened. The piece a has thickened parts and is otherwise shaped, as shown, so as to be flush with the part a. A ledge a on the piece a engages a rabbet in the bracket a, and a snug a helps to position the bracket and prevent it from binding against the loom side. The bracket a may be made in one with the piece a'.

    • 12,899. Walsh, W. A. June 25. Cork-drawers; unwiring bottles.-The cork-extractor, Fig. 2, consists of a stem 5 provided with a handle 6 at one end, and a barbed triangular head 7 at the other end. The upper ends 8, 9 of the barbs are Hat and in the same plane, while their inner edges 10 are single bevelled and sharpened, to serve for cutting the wires sometimes employed to secure the corks. The outer edges 11,12 of the head are double-bevelled and sharpened to penetrate the cork. When the wire, if any, has been removed, the head is forced through the cork and rotated until out of alignment with the incision ; then, when the implement is pulled, the ends 8, 9 bear against and effect the withdrawal of the cork. A lug 15 is provided on the stem, to limit the insertion of the head. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the barbs of the head are provided with hinged flaps or wings 16, 17, which, after passing through the cork, drop over at right-angles to the head.
