    • The disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus in a rotary stapling machine (10) which, with a stapling module (12) placed in a stapling cylinder (11), applies staples through a plurality of layers in a material web (16) running through the rotary stapling machine (10), at an interval corresponding to a predetermined cutting length (Delta) along the material web (16), the staples being formed by means of a stapling fork (21) in the stapling module (12) in that wire (23) is advanced to a collection position at a forming wheel (22), the wire (23) being cut off whereafter the stapling fork (21) is urged against the forming wheel (22) in order to form the staple which is thereafter collected by the stapling fork (21) and conveyed for application in the material web (16), as well as final forming against a die (15) in a die cylinder (14), wherein the stapling cylinder (11) rotates two revolutions for each cutting length (Delta).

    • 1339993 Stapling TOLERANS AB 19 April 1971 [6 April 1970] 26722/71 Heading B4C Apparatus for stitching a moving web P, e.g. of layers of paper, comprises a stapling cylinder 20 co-operating with further means 26, the cylinder 20 supporting an arm 13 for collecting a wire length 12 from cutting means 10 and forming it into a staple 12a by co-operation with forming means, the arm 13 being reciprocable in a pivotable member 24 so that a portion 24a of the member 24 drives the staple 12a into the web 9, and a control mechanism, e.g. cam means 25, 33, governing reciprocation of the arm 13 and angular movement of the member 24. The cut length 12 is fed between a block 15 and leaf spring means 14 by the cutter 10, and engagement by the arm 13 draws it between projecting flanges of a forming roll 16, forming a staple 12a held in longitudinal grooves 17 of the arm by a resilient finger 18. At the stapling position a lever 22 carried on a pivot pin 21 of the cylinder 20 is actuated by the cam means 25, 33 to cause a stapling stroke of the arm 13, pivoting of the member 24 compensating for a greater linear speed of an anvil 27 that that of the cylinder periphery. Feeding of the wire 12 is effected by cooperating rollers (28), (28a), Fig. 3 (not shown), breaks (29) in the periphery of one roller (28) causing feeding to be cyclically interrupted for operation of the cutting means 10. To stop the feed, the rollers (28), (28a) may be disengaged by electromagnetic means (31), a control (39) being provided to interrupt feed when the wire supply is exhausted.
