    • 3847. Strauss, K. Feb. 22. See-saws.-Relates to a coin-freed see-saw or rocking gymnastic apparatus having a device for controlling the period during which the apparatus can be used. The rocking beam 2, preferably of #-iron, is mounted on a pivot 3, and carries handles 5 and pivoted seats 4 kept horizontal by a rod 49, mounted on a pivot 50, and forked levers 51. The pivot 3 carries an arm 40 connected by a link 41 to an operating-lever 6, loose on a shaft 7 carrying a grooved wheel 8 engaged by two eccentric sectors 9, 10 pivoted to the lever 6 and frame. At the end of each rotation of the wheel 8, the apparatus is locked by a pusher 11 pressed by a spring 12 into engagement with recesses in the wheel 8 and a sector 20 fixed to the beam 2. The pusher 11 is held outwards by a pivoted plate 13 engaging a recess 26 and having a projection riding on the wheel 8 and raised by a projection before the recess in the wheel comes opposite the pusher. To prevent too sudden looking of the beam 2, a braking-device may be provided, and may consist of a notched and slotted sector connected by springs and pins to the sector 20. Separate pushers may be used to block the wheel 8 and the sector 20, which may be replaced by an arm. Ratchet-wheels and spring pawls may be used instead of the wheel 8 and sectors 9 and 10. Coin action; coin-discharging mechanism; delivery mechanism.-The locking-pusher 11 is released by a rod 17 connected to it by an arm 15 pivoted at 14. The coin-freed mechanism by which the rod 17 is allowed to be operated may consist of a shoot 27 which leads the coin 28 into a box 29 carried by a locking-lever 31 having a nose 32 pressed by a spring 33 into engagement with a recess 34 in a spring-withdrawn pusher 22. When the pusher is pulled, a plate 35 on it presses the coin against, and releases, the locking-lever 31, and on further displacement the coin rolls downwards. The pusher 22 carries a fork 23 to engage a pin 24 on the rod 17, and delivers a packet from the column 46.
