摘要： A catheter having an elongated shaft and a balloon on a distal shaft section, the elongated shaft comprising an outer tubular member, and an inner tubular member which has a bonded portion along which an outer surface of the inner tubular member is bonded to an inner surface of the outer tubular member. The inner tubular member has a proximal portion proximal to the bonded portion, and a distal portion distal to the bonded portion with higher axial compression stiffness and column strength than the proximal portion thereof. The catheter has improved traceability, axial collapse resistance, pushability, and crossability, for improved ability to position the balloon at a desired location in a patient's body lumen.

摘要： A method for preparing asymmetric radial polymers wherein the different polymeric arms are contacted sequentially with a coupling agent. The method narrows the relative arm distribution of the several asymmetric radial polymers produced and significantly increases the amount of total product having the desired ratio of polymeric arms. Any coupling agent known in the prior art to be useful in the production of asymmetric radial polymers may be used in the method of this invention but coupling agents having from three to about twelve functional groups are most effective.

摘要： A system is provided for forming a permanent crimped connection, through which light may be transmitted to and from a fiber-optic cable, by forcibly crimp fitting an adapter for fiber-optic devices, light sources, and light utilization devices, to an end fitting of the fiber-optic cable using a crimping tool. A portion of the end fitting is inserted into an a corresponding passage in the adapter and held in alignment for mating by the crimping tool. When the crimping tool is actuated, a cylindrical outer surface of the end fitting, having a larger diameter than a cylindrical inner surface of the adapter, is pushed into the adapter to create the crimped connection between the end fitting and the adapter.
