    • A color image forming apparatus for mono color printing and a method thereof are disclosed. The apparatus includes: photoconductors; a charger for charging each of the photoconductors; a development unit for forming a developer image on each of the photoconductors; a transfer unit including an image transfer member for receiving the developer image from each of the photoconductors and a transfer voltage supply member for supplying a transfer bias voltage to the image transfer member; a first cleaning unit for cleaning each of the photoconductors; and a control unit for controlling the photoconductors, charger, development unit and transfer unit in a mono color printing mode to form a developer image on an image area of a selected one of the photoconductors, to transfer the formed developer image to a non-image area of the image transfer member, and to divide the transferred developer image into portions and reverse-transfer the divided portions of the transferred developer image from the image transfer member to remaining photoconductors.

    • An image forming apparatus and a method of controlling a development voltage include a photosensitive body, a charger which charges the photosensitive body, a laser scanning unit (LSU) which forms an electrostatic latent image by radiating light onto the photosensitive body, a developing unit which develops the electrostatic latent image by supplying a developing agent to the photosensitive body to form an image, a transfer unit which transfers the developed image onto a sheet of paper, a surface potential measuring unit disposed on the surface of the photosensitive body between the developing unit and the transfer unit to measure a surface potential of the photosensitive body, a comparator which compares the surface potential of the photosensitive body before a development voltage is supplied to the developing unit, with the surface potential of the photosensitive body after the development voltage is supplied to the developing unit, to calculate a deviation, and a controller which sets a new development voltage of the developing unit and controls the developing unit if the deviation is larger than a reference value.

    • A method of controlling the charging operation of the contact charger of an electrophotographic apparatus including a photosensitive drum and a developing means for charging a toner with a negative voltage, the photosensitive drum and developing means being normally supplied with a negative voltage during printing, which includes the steps of: supplying a negative charging voltage of a specified level to the contact charger for a first interval defined as at least one initial rotation of the photosensitive drum in warm-up with the developing means not being supplied with a voltage, cutting off the negative charging voltage, and supplying a negative developing bias voltage which is lower than the surface voltage of the photosensitive drum to the developing means for a second interval defined as the interval before the stopping of the rotation of the photosensitive drum after the first period. Accordingly, negatively charged toner particles scattered by the developing means and abnormally attached to the photosensitive drum are moved from the photosensitive drum to the developing means owing to the electrical potential difference between the surface of the photosensitive drum and the developing means in the first interval, and positively charged ones of the toner particles are moved from the contact charger to the photosensitive drum and then to the developing means owing to the negative developing bias voltage in the second interval.
