    • A one-piece miniature insulation displacement contact adapted for post-termination insertion and retention within a channel of an insulative connector housing. The contact includes a continuous channel extending the length of a conductor termination portion formed at one end of the contact, extending the length of a transition portion of the contact, and extending a portion of the length of a terminal engagement portion of the contact; a floor of the continuous channel extending the entire length of the contact. The conductor termination portion includes opposing first walls coextensive with the floor and opposing insulation displacement jaws shear formed from each of the first walls where each of the jaws is displaced inwardly to juxtapose respective innermost insulation piercing edges of each of said jaws to form an insulation displacement slot.

    • A tool assembly for use with a prime mover, such as a bench press, for terminating a plurality of insulated conductors in a mass terminator connector. The tool assembly includes a pair of supports, at least one of which is adapted for attachment to the prime mover, for reciprocal movement relative to one another. The assembly also includes a conductor insertion die set carried by one of the supports for inserting the conductors into the connector. This die set includes an insertion die corresponding to each terminal element of the connector. Finally, the assembly includes connector holding means carried by the other support for holding the connector in alignment with the die set. The holding means has connector release means for retaining the connector in the holding means and is engageable by the connector and movable by the connector from a retention position to a release position and biased to the retention position. Thus, by pulling the terminated conductors sufficiently to overcome the bias, the connector is released from the holding means.

    • Apparatus for forming a plurality of elongate objects such as wires into a bundle of circular cross section. The apparatus comprises a base adapted to be securely affixed to a mount such as a panelboard and a frame for mounting on the base. The frame comprises a pair of arms extending upwardly from adjacent the base with each arm terminating in an end portion. The end portions are movable relative to one another between a retaining position wherein the spacing between the end portions is less than the diameter of one of the objects and a release position wherein the spacing is at least as great as the object diameter. In their release portion, the end portions define an object-receiving opening. The arms are biased toward their retaining position. The apparatus further comprises a length of elastomeric material removably carried by the frame and free of the base. The length includes a portion bridging the arms adjacent the free ends. This portion cooperates with the end portions to hold the bundle therebetween. The frame and the base comprise attachment means for releasably mounting the frame on the base and operable to remove the frame therefrom whereby upon damage to the length of elastomeric material, it can be removed from the base without removal of the base from the support.

    • An identification labeling system having a faceplate with a recess and a label cover that may be retained within the recess. The label cover may have compartments for retaining identification labels. The label cover has latching legs and the recess has a complementary retention ledge. A lift slot may be provided to facilitate removal of the label cover. The recess may contain holes to accommodate individual molded identification icons. The recess may include tapered corners to accommodate strip labels of different widths and lengths, such labels being positioned by the tapered corners of the recess and the label cover. The recess includes end configurations that prevent a label from passing through the surface of the faceplate. The label cover has a thickness so as to be flush with the faceplate. The label may be the same color as the faceplate.

    • A metal locking tie formed from a locking head and an elongate strap extending through the locking head. The locking head is defined by a top wall, a bottom wall and two sides. The locking head includes a strap passageway that extends through the locking head from an entrance end to an exit end. The bottom wall of the locking head has a tab that extends upwardly toward the strap passageway in the locking head. The strap has a first end, a second end, and an aperture therethrough. When the strap is positioned within the locking head the upwardly extending tab of the locking head engages the aperture in the strap. A metal locking tie tool secures the strap to the locking head by displacing a portion of the strap in the locking head.

    • A metal cable tie is disclosed. The cable tie includes an elongate metallic strap, a metallic locking head, and metallic roller means. The strap has a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The head is secured to the first end of the strap for receiving the second end of the strap. The head comprises a strap entry face, a strap exit face, and a strap-receiving aperture extending therebetween. The head further comprises a floor and a roof which diverge in the direction of the exit face. The metallic roller means lockingly engages the strap, and the head comprises retention means disposed adjacent the exit face for captively holding the roller means within the head. The roller means is movable between a threading position wherein the roller means is disposed adjacent the exit face and the retention means, and a locking position wherein the roller means is closer the entry face. The ratio of the distance from a point along a ceiling to the center of the roller means in the threading position to the diameter of the roller means is less than 1.7.
