摘要： The present application describes a method for receiving information broadcast by a network comprising characteristics pertaining to one or more telecommunication cells m the network and determining a type of cell for at least one of the one or more telecommunication cells as a function of the information broadcast by the network instead of as a result of a broadcast by the network specifically identifying the at least one telecommunication cell as a particular type of cell. The determining of a type of cell may include distinguishing a Femto cell from a Macro cell, a Micro cell or a Pico cell. The characteristics pertaining to one or more telecommunication cells m the network may include characteristics pertaining to operation of a serving telecommunication cell and/or characteristics pertaining to operation of at least one telecommunication cell neighbouring the serving telecommunication cell. A wireless device is also disclosed for implementing the method.

And, for each of the random numbers, a hash value is created by applying the random number to a hash function. The hash values identify bit locations of a paging message. When the paging message is formed, bit locations associated with the hash values are populated with bit values that identify whether the access terminal is being paged. And, the access terminal checks the bit values at the bit locations associated with the hash values to determine whether the access terminal is being paged.

One or more paging slots (404, 406, 408, 410) assigned to the mobile devices are identified for transmitting a plurality of page messages (506) in response to these requests. However, the wireless network refrains from causing a page message for the mobile device associated with a tolerable delay indication (504) to be transmitted within the one or more paging slots when a paging capacity limit of the one or more paging slots is reached. This allows higher priority page messages to be transmitted within the one or more paging slots. The wireless network subsequently causes a page message for the mobile device having the tolerable delay indication to be transmitted within one or more subsequent paging slots within a tolerable delay period corresponding to the tolerable delay indication.
