A lathe or shaping machine comprises a saddle provided with a thrust bearing pad 2 to which hydraulic fluid is supplied at a pressure insufficient to raise the saddle out of contact with its guides. A pump 4 supplies high-pressure fluid to the pads 2 and low-pressure fluid to a distributer 8 for lubricating other parts of the lathe. A pump 4A extracts fluid from pockets 4B, too great a suction being prevented by a valve 4C. Gauges 6, 7 indicate the pressures. The pads may be on one or both sides of the saddle.

[Class 80(i)] Means whereby the distance between coacting belt or rope driven pulleys may be decreased for belt removal is described as applied to a V-pulley 6. A driving shaft 1, supported in bearings 2, 3, is keyed in an eccentric bore of a bush 4 on which is mounted a further eccentrically bored bush. 5. The pulley 6 is concentrically bored and rotatably mounted on the outer bush 5, being normally locked to it by a screw 7. A screw 10 normally secures the bushes 4, 5 together but may be screwed inwardly to release the outer bush 5 and engage a bore 14 in the bearing bush 3 to lock the inner bush 4 thereto. The pulley 6 and bush 5 may then be rotated through 180 degrees about the locked bush 4 to displace the pulley for belt removal, and if the screw 7 is turned inwardly to bind on the screw 10 and release the pulley 6, belt removal is facilitated by the concentric rotation of the pulley on the bush 5. Keep plates 15, 16 are provided to restrain axially the pulley 6 and bush 5 respectively. Specification 594,212 is referred to.

[Class 12 (i)] A tumbler bearing arrangement for supporting a lathe lead screw or like shaft comprises a pendulum member 16 fitted with a support pad 17 for the shaft 18 and such member is pivotally carried at 23 on a bracket arm 12 itself pivoted by a stud 3 and adapted to be rocked, on passage of the travelling apron 1 of the lathe, by a striker 2 engaging anti-friction rollers 14 forming the contact abutment on the bracket 12 whereby the pendulum member 16 with its support pad 17 for the shaft 18 is moved away from the shaft, the bracket arm 12 being also connected through a pinion and rock engagement 4/7 with a spring-returned slide sleeve 8 so that after the passage of the lathe apron 1 the bracket arm 12 is automatically returned and so restores the pendulum member 16 to re-position its support pad 17 against the shaft 18. The bracket arm 12 is itself provided at the top end with a roller 19 serving as a tumbler bearing for a further shaft 20. An oil or grease filling in the housing 5 of the slide sleeve 8 gives a slow-return effect.

Connecting-rods r, pivoted on either side of the frame o are also pivoted eccentrically to wheels q, gearing with a fixed circular rack s on the base of the iron container d. On rotation of the shaft k, the scrapers rotate with the electrodes, and are the same time reciprocated by the connecting- rods r, the vertical paths of the two frames o, o overlapping slightly. The scrapers s may be strips of vulcanite or other dielectric. The electrodes have reduced extensions through which pass conducting-rods, one connecting all the positive electrodes, and one the negative. The two rods are connected by leads passing through the shaft k to conducting-rings m, m with which contact is made by brushes. Spacing insulators j are mounted on the rods. The container is filled from a pipe connected to a pump and after purification is emptied by a pipe d . The impurities, which rise to the top, are washed out by water from a perforated flush coil t and withdrawn through a pipe d ; valves are provided in all three pipes. Two containers may be connected by a T-joint with a single supply-pipe, one being filled and the liquid treated, while the other is being emptied and cleaned. The apparatus is particularly applicable to the purification of laundry liquids; a considerable amount of unused detergent remains in the liquid after purification.

摘要： A dowel basket assembly apparatus includes a jig table rotationally supported on a bearing assembly, which supports a table top assembly having arms extending radially outwardly and supporting first, second and third jig table bases. The bases move through first, second and third stations by rotating the assembly. First jig table is positioned at first station, second jig table at second station, and third jig table at third station. Rods are located in receptacles on first jig table base at first station. Simultaneously, rods are welded to form a dowel basket on second jig table base at second station. Simultaneously, a welded dowel basket is unloaded from third jig table base at third station. After completion of the steps of locating, welding and retrieving, the apparatus is rotated to advance the jig tables to the next station.
