    • A rimless toilet pan (20) including a forward end (F), a rearward end (R), a pan bowl (28), a flushing outlet (32), a flushing water inlet (30), an inwardly facing first sidewall (34), an inwardly facing second sidewall (37) and a flushing water flow splitter (38). The flushing outlet (32) is in fluid communication with the pan bowl (28). The flushing water inlet (30) is in fluid communication with the pan bowl (28). The inwardly facing first sidewall (34) extends substantially around the top of the pan bowl (28). The substantially horizontal ledge (36) extends substantially around the bottom of the first sidewall (34). The inwardly facing second sidewall (37) extends substantially around the pan bowl (28) under the horizontal ledge (36). The flushing water flow splitter (38) is substantially adjacent a rearward end of the first sidewall (34), is in fluid communication with the flushing water inlet (30) and has a leftwards outlet (38a) and a rightwards outlet (38b). The flushing water flow balancer (40) is on a frontwards part of the first sidewall (34), includes an inwardly facing projection (40a/b/c) extending vertically through at least part of the height of the first sidewall (34) and is positioned substantially symmetrically in relation to a forward to rearward centreline (42) of the toilet pan (28).

    • A device (20) for improving drainline clearance for use with an ultra low flushing volume toilet (24). The device (20) includes a centrifuge separator means (30), for separating liquids (L) and solids (S), and a reservoir (42). The separator means (30) has a substantially horizontal inlet (32), adapted for connection to the outlet (26) of a toilet pan (24), an outlet (36) primarily for solids (S) and an outlet (38) primarily for liquids (L). The reservoir (42) is beneath the separator means (30) and has an inlet (38) in fluid communication with the liquids outlet (38) of the separator means (30). The reservoir (42) is adapted to syphonically empty substantially all of its contents into a sewerage drainline (22) after at least 2 flushes of the toilet (24). Further, the separator means (30) and the reservoir (42) have a combined vertical dimension less than the maximum height of the toilet pan outlet for installation adjacent the toilet (24) and substantially above the floor level (F) of the toilet (24).

    • A tap (10) comprising: a handle; a spindle (12); a body (18); a substantially cup-shaped elastomeric seal (26); and first (28a) and second (28b) substantially complimentarily shaped ceramic valve members. The spindle (12) is adapted for angular movement about its longitudinal axis in response to like movement of the handle. The body (18) has a fluid inlet (20), a fluid outlet (22) and an opening (24) for at least partially receiving the spindle therein. The seal (26) has a base (26a) and a sidewall (28b). The seal base (26a) has a fluid inlet opening (38) in fluid communication with the body fluid inlet (20) and is adapted for sealing relative to the body (18) adjacent the body fluid inlet (20). The seal sidewall (26b) has a fluid outlet opening (42) in fluid communication with the body fluid outlet (22) and is adapted for sealing relative to the body adjacent the body (18) fluid outlet (22). The first valve member (28a) is adjacent to the end of the spindle (12) opposite the handle and is adapted for angular movement in response to like movement of the handle and has at least one opening 36a therein. The second valve member (28b) is positioned between the first valve member (28a) and the seal base (26b), is restrained against angular movement relative to the seal base (26b) and has at least one opening (36) in fluid communication the fluid inlet opening (38) in the seal base (26b). Movement of the handle causes the first valve member (28a) to move between an opened position, where the first (28a) and second (28b) valve members are aligned to permit fluid passage from the body fluid inlet (20) to the body fluid outlet (22) via the second valve member opening(s) (36) and the interior of the seal (26), and a closed position, where the first valve member (28a) occludes the opening(s) in the second valve member (28b) to prevent said fluid passage.
