The method involves obtaining a first and second mixture of uncontaminated oil and a contaminant, wherein a percentage of the uncontaminated oil in the first mixture is different from the second mixture. The method may further include establishing a rate of change of a physical property of the first mixture and the second mixture to estimate a mass density of the uncontaminated oil and a mass density of the contaminant. In addition, the method may include obtaining a volume fraction of the uncontaminated oil for the first mixture and second mixture using the mass density of the uncontaminated oil and the mass density of the contaminant. An optical device may be used to determine a composition of the first and second mixtures in order to calculate a composition of the contaminant and a composition of the uncontaminated oil.

摘要： An example method for estimating a time of flight ("TOF") for an acoustic wave generated by. an acoustic source for each of a plurality of acoustic receivers in an array can include recording data corresponding to the acoustic wave received at each of the acoustic receivers, estimating a respective TOF for the acoustic wave for each of the acoustic receivers, and discarding one or more of the respective estimated TOFs. Each of the discarded TOFs can be a statistical outlier. The method can also include calculating a plurality of time delays for the acoustic wave using a plurality of non- discarded estimated TOFs, and updating the respective estimated TOFs for the acoustic wave for each of the acoustic receivers using the calculated time delays. Each of the time delays can be a difference between respective estimated TOFs for the acoustic wave for at least two of the acoustic receivers.

摘要： A system, method and tool for measuring subsurface waves from a wellbore is provided comprising a source for propagating at least earth waves and a drilling tool. The drilling tool may include a drill string comprising a number of drill pipe sections positionable in the wellbore and a bottom hole assembly. The bottom hole assembly may include a sensor package containing a strain gauge to determine strain measurements of the drill string and a subsurface sensor to determine subsurface measurements of earth waves passing through the earth and drill string waves passing through the drill string. Embodiments of the system may compare the strain measurements to the subsurface measurements in order to distinguish drill string waves from earth waves.

摘要： A downhole monitoring system and method that includes a sensor system with a sensor array with a number of sensors and a hub. Data measured by the sensors is processed by the hub and wirelessly communicated to a smart node. The sensor system may be mounted in the annulus formed between a borehole wall and an exterior surface of a well casing. The sensors may be configured to monitor the formation for micro-seismic events generated during hydraulic fracturing. The fracture growth and propagation may be monitored using the data obtained by the sensors. The data may facilitate real time control of the hydraulic fracturing operation.

摘要： An electrochemical sensor of a downhole tool positionable in a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation is provided. The downhole tool has a flowline to receive downhole fluid. The electrochemical sensor includes a bulkhead carried by the downhole tool, a membrane exposed to the downhole fluid in the flowline, and an electrochemical cell supported by the bulkhead about the membrane. The electrochemical cell includes a plurality of cell sensors, at least one cell electrode, and a sensing solution. The plurality cell sensors include an analyte sensor, a temperature sensor, and a pH sensor. The sensing solution is reactive to certain analytes in the downhole fluid to generate electrical signals measurable by the plurality of cell sensors whereby parameters of chemicals in the downhole fluid may be measured.

In some examples, the cover is controllable to transition between a first position and a second position. For example, the cover can form a gap between a first side of the optical element and the cover when the cover is in the first position, and the cover can provide the optical element with access to a field-of-view when the cover is in the second position. Such example apparatus can also include a flushing assembly controllable to inject cleaning fluid into the gap when the cover is in the first position. In some examples, the flushing assembly also includes a valve that is controllable to permit the cleaning fluid to exit the gap after having been injected into the gap.

The downhole tool is positionable in a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, and has a probe positionable adjacent a wall of the wellbore and pumps, the probe having a sampling inlet and a contamination inlet to draw fluid from the formation into the downhole tool with the pumps. The methods involve pumping fluid into the downhole tool through the sampling inlet and the contamination inlet, varying the pumping of the fluid through the sampling inlet and the contamination inlet at a plurality of flow rates, measuring parameters of the fluid passing through the sampling inlet and the contamination inlet (the fluid parameters comprising optical density), and determining cleanup of contamination during sampling by examining changes in optical density of the fluid entering the sampling inlet at the flow rates.
