    • A tool for use when laying out lines on stair stringers or roof rafters along which cuts are to be made. The step and rafter tool includes a framing square, an angle bracket and two carriage bolts with washers and wingnuts. Each leg of the framing square has a longitudinal slot which is about 90% of the length of the leg. The angle bracket has two central longitudinal slots in the first flange, each of which is about 40% of the length of the angle bracket. The angle bracket is positioned against the framing square so that two carriage bolts are place within holes formed by the overlapping slots of the bracket and square with washers and wingnuts assembled therein. With the wingnuts loose, the angle bracket can be positioned wherever is desired with respect to the framing square and then the wingnuts are tightened. The second flange of the angle bracket now provides a shoe which can slide on the narrow side of a board to be marked and cut for use as a stair stringer or a roof rafter, and thereby stabilize the framing square in place to act as a marking guide. Various indicia, guide marks and data tables are engraved into the legs of the framing square to aid in set up and marking. The edges of the slots in the framing square also provide useful marking guides which are a known distance from other outer or inner edges of the framing square legs.

    • A power operated retractable tailgate assembly for a vehicle that includes a tailgate with opposite end edges thereof connected via sliding pivots to a respective one of a pair of elongate slide rails. The slide rails mount in lateral spaced apart relation on the underside of the floor of the cargo carrying box on the vehicle. A first extendible and retractable assembly, having relatively movable respective first and second portions, has the first portion anchored to the vehicle and a second portion that is hingedly connected to the tailgate proximate a lower marginal edge thereof. A power means is operatively connected to the extendible and retractable assembly and is operable from within the cab of the vehicle selectively to extend and retract the tailgate by moving the tailgate along the slide members. A second power operated extendible and retractable assembly is connected to the tailgate to move the same from its open position wherein it is horizontally disposed and projects rearwardly from the vehicle to a raised closed position wherein it is disposed vertically. Each of the extendable and retractable assemblies include a hydraulic cylinder unit operatively associated with a motor driven pump.

    • A chimney damper that includes a rigid first peripheral frame surrounding an open window area, a cap moveable toward and away from the open window to selectively close and open the same and springs interconnecting the cap and frame resiliently urging the cap to an open position. The springs are connected at the upper ends thereof to second rigid frame. The cap is mounted on the second frame and the latter is allowed to pivot relative to the cap. The springs and the arrangement thereof are such as to cause the second frame to rotate relative to the first frame during opening and closing of the damper with the rotation being about one quarter turn. An articulated link interconnects the first frame and coupling between the second frame and the cap so as to prevent pivoting of the cap when moving the cap from one to the other of an open and a closed position.

    • A hand glove for the participant of an active sport in which at least one of the participants fingers maybe subjected to hyper-extension from contact received from participating in that sport. The glove has respectively oppositely disposed palm and dorsal faces, a plurality of individual finger elements and an elongate strip of material having at least elastically stretchable portions spaced apart from one another longitudinally along the strip and on the palm face side of the glove for each one of selected finger elements of the glove. Each strip is anchored at one end thereof proximate the tip of the glove finger element associated therewith and at the other end proximate the palm portion of the glove. Each strip being elastically stretchable is tensioned causing the finger element associated therewith to curl in a direction of the fingers for gripping an article.
