    • A quick return mechanism for a drilling machine comprises an input shaft (9), an output shaft (10), an over-drive gear train (19) and a speed-reduction gear train (23), each disposed between the input and output shafts (9, 10), a first clutch (18) for connecting the output shaft (10) to the input shaft (9) through the over-drive gear train (19) when a motor (13) for driving the input shaft (9) rotates in the quick-return direction and disconnecting the output shaft (10) from the input shaft (9) when the motor (13) rotates in the feed direction, a second clutch (22) selectively set at a first position and a second position, for connecting the output shaft (10) to the input shaft (9) through the speed-reduction gear train (23) at the first position when the motor (13) is rotated in the feed direction, and disconnecting the output shaft (10) from the input shaft (9) through the speed-reduction gear train (23) at said second position, when the motor (13) rotates in the quick-return direction, and a rotation=linear-movement converting unit (32) for setting the second clutch (22) at the first position when the motor (13) rotates in the feed direction, and at the second position when the motor (13) rotates in the quick-return direction.

    • [Problem] To provide a handle device in which the point of contact between a handle member and a rotating shaft member is unlikely to be deformed. [Solution] A handle device 20 is provided with a holding member 26, a handle member 22, and a rotating shaft member 24. The handle member 22 has a shaft section 50 having formed thereon first and second connection engagement sections 54a, 54b and first and second connection release sections 56a, 56b. The rotating shaft member 24 has a connection recess section 72 formed in the connection end surface 68 thereof which faces the shaft section 50, and the connection recess section 72 extends radially from a rotation axis R. The handle member 22 is configured so that, at a connected position, the first and second connection engagement sections 54a, 54b are engaged with the connection recess section 72 at positions on both sides, in the direction of a longitudinal axis M, of the rotation axis R, and are connected, in a rotational direction, to the rotating shaft member 24. When the handle member 22 is displaced in the direction of the longitudinal axis M to be set at a connection release position, the connection between the connection recess section 72 and the first and second connection engagement sections 54a, 54b is released, and the handle member 22 becomes rotatable relative to the rotating shaft member 24.
