    • A braking system is provided for applying pressurized hydraulic brake fluid to a plurality of vehicle brakes. The system includes a source of pressurized brake fluid, a first brake fluid circuit, and a boost valve for controlling a flow of brake fluid from the source to the first circuit. A first brake actuator is actuated by brake fluid from the first circuit and a second brake actuator operated by an application of brake fluid from the first circuit. The system further includes a second brake fluid circuit and a third brake fluid circuit. A third brake actuator is actuated by brake fluid from the second circuit. A fourth brake actuator actuated by brake fluid from the third circuit. A master cylinder includes a primary piston, a first secondary piston, and second secondary piston. The first and second secondary pistons are capable of being each independently operably displaced by an application of pressurized fluid from the first circuit to pressurize brake fluid in, respectively, the second circuit to operate the third brake actuator and the third circuit to operate the fourth brake circuit.

    • This invention relates to an improved vehicle wheel hub (10) and bearing retention system and method for producing the same, the vehicle wheel hub and bearing retention system (90) including a wheel hub, a bearing unit, and a bearing retention and preload device. The wheel hub includes an inboard end (16), an outboard end, and a main body. The method for producing a vehicle wheel hub and bearing retention system comprising the steps of: (a) providing a wheel hub defining a longitudinal axis and including an inboard end, an outboard end, and a main body, the wheel hub defining a bearing seat (64) and a wheel hub shoulder; (b) providing a bearing unit onto the bearing seat (64) of the wheel hub adjacent the wheel hub shoulder; (c) providing a bearing unit retention and preload device on the opened inboard end of the wheel hub adjacent the bearing unit; and (d) reshaping the material of the inboard end of the wheel hub against the bearing unit retention and preload device (78) to thereby secure the bearing unit retention and preload device on the wheel hub and prevent axial movement of the bearing unit relative to the wheel hub.

    • A pedal simulator (14) for a vehicle braking system. The pedal simulator (14) is coupled to a brake pedal (12), and includes an electrical actuator operatively coupled to the brake pedal (12) to selectively exert a force on the brake pedal (12). A position sensor (32) is provided for generating a position signal indicative of the position of the brake pedal (12). A force sensor (42) is provided for generating a force signal indicative of the force exerted upon the brake pedal (12) by a driver. An electronic control unit (16) is provided which has programmed therein a desired relationship between the position signal and the force signal. The electronic control unit (16) determines an actual relationship between the position signal and the force signal and compares the actual relationship thus determined with the desired relationship. The electronic control unit (16) controls the electrical actuator to selectively exert a force on the brake pedal (12) to conform the actual relationship to the desired relationship.
