    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively obtain a long-lined MgB 2 superconducting core wire having high characteristics to critical current and magnetic field, by reforming the method for manufacturing the superconducting core wire by means of an existing CTFF method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the MgB 2 superconducting core wire includes steps of: continuously supplying a strip-shaped metallic coating member to form a U-shaped tube; filling the particle of the MgB 2 superconducting material into the inside of the U-shaped coating member; welding the joint of an O-shaped tube after forming the coating member filled by the conducting particle into the O-shaped tube; rolling or drawing the welded tube; and plating a conducting material on the surface of the tube so as to give a feature for a stabilized material. No inserting step of the stabilized material into the tube and forming step for a tubular material are required in this manufacturing method, as plating step of the conducting material can be processed without changing the particle of the superconducting material in quality by welding the joint.       SOLUTION: The solid wire for MAG welding is manufactured by high-speed copper plating by being immersed in a copper plating solution to make a plating layer of 0.2-1.0 μm in thickness, and the plating layer comprises 100-1,000 ppm of Fe, an alkali metal (Na), and alkaline earth metals (Mg, Ca) in total wherein the content of the alkali metal (Na) and the alkaline earth metals (Mg, Ca) ranges from 10-500 ppm. According to the present invention, the copper plating solid wire for MAG welding with excellent feedability and arc stability during welding can be obtained despite the high-speed plating process.
