摘要： Collecting images of a patron in an entertainment venue is performed by facial recognition of the patron's face within the images, simplifying the storage (37) and distribution of the images (39) for a patron. In order to enhance the reliability of the facial recognition system (31), information about the patron (33) that is not directly related to most facial recognition systems (31), including clothes, height, other associated people, use of glasses and jewelry, disposition of facial hair, and more, can be used. Some of the characteristics used can be specific to a particular date or event, and which will not be more generally characteristic of the patron. The facial recognition system (31) can also be used to identify (37) the patron requesting images to be collected. The present invention also relates to the use of facial recognition in sorting and collecting images from an electronically-stored image collection, enabling the easy retrieval of images that are related to a particular person or set of people.

摘要： An automated video production system having full news integration and automation. The automated video production system enables a producer to create a show rundown by selecting news stories for a live or live-to-tape video show. The system supports real time conversion of the show rundown into computer readable broadcast instructions for executing the news program. After the broadcast instructions are created, the director can instruct the system to execute the broadcast instructions in either a fully or semi-automatic mode. The fully integrated and automated video production system periodically monitors and synchronizes the show rundown with the broadcast instructions. After the show has been broadcasted, the broadcast instructions and a video recording of the show is stored for future use. For instance, the broadcast instructions can be retrieved and used in another show. Similarly, the recording of the show can be retrieved and re-broadcasted, for example, over the Internet.

摘要： A video production device which enables use of a number of existing broadcasting machinery and materials (such as a time code generator and an editing controller) requiring framing at a frequency of 30 Hz and appliances operating under the current time code signal standard defined on the basis of 30 Hz in a progress TV mode in which framing cannot be carried out at a frequency of 30 Hz. An interlace TV synchronizing signal field-synchronized with a progress TV signal is connected to various broadcasting appliances (VTRs (102, 103), a time code generator (4), and an editing controller (5)) from a progress synchronizing signal source (30). Thus, the entire progress TV video production system is synchronized by the interlace TV synchronizing signal, and 30 Hz synchronization becomes possible. Also, by supplying the interlace TV synchronizing signal to the entire system, conventional interlace TV mode machinery and materials (such as an editing controller and a time code signal generator) may be used for the progress TV video production system.

Frame-specific access is accomplished by determining the location and type of target frame, identifying the reference frames to which the target frame directly and indirectly refers, parsing the reference frames with a decoder while the decoder's video display is suppressed, enabling the video display, and beginning normal decoder playback at the target frame location in the video bitstream. Reverse play is similar.

摘要： A system and method provides a dynamic delivery layer that operates between a client and a server for delivering video images to the client. In particular, the dynamic delivery layer determines an optimal, or otherwise appropriate, delivery format of the video image based on one or more parameters associated with the client. These parameters may include a bandwidth of a communication link between the client and the server, a display capability of the client, a codec associated with the video image, one or more video characteristics associated with the client, etc. Once these parameters are determined, the dynamic delivery layer determines an optimal or appropriate delivery format for the video image to maximize the viewing experience at the client. In other words, the video capabilities of the client are determined and the video image is adjusted accordingly to accommodate those capabilities while maximizing the quality of the video image delivered to the client.
