摘要： A process and apparatus is described for liquefying natural gas using two closed cycle, multicomponent refrigerants wherein a low level refrigerant cools and liquefies the gas by indirect heat exchange and a high level refrigerant cools and partially liquefies the low level refrigerant by indirect multistage heat exchange. The high level refrigerant is phase separated in order to use lighter refrigerant components to perform the final lowest level of refrigeration while the liquid phase of the separation is split and then expanded for refrigeration duty in order to avoid multiple flash separations wherein heavier components are used to provide the lower levels of refrigeration.

Thus, the apparatus can be fully automatized in various preliminary operations without complicated operations of the conventional apparatus by providing not only the thermometers and the pressure gage but a recovery valve interposed between a liquefied He reservoir and a recovery line.

摘要： Method and apparatus for liquefying a gas such as natural gas, utilizing at least one cycle fluid comprising a refrigerating mixture, with at least one first principal cycle fluid under a low pressure in countercurrent heat exchange with the gas which is to be liquefied and with at least one second principal cycle fluid under a high pressure. At least one secondary cycle fluid is obtained by withdrawing a portion in liquid phase from the refrigerating mixture at the high pressure and is expanded to the low pressure and is then added to the first principal cycle fluid. The heat exchange takes place in at least one heat exchanger comprising a stack of plates which form uninterrupted longitudinal compartments forming passages for the first principal cycle fluid under a low pressure, these compartments extending from the cold end of the exchanger, and a plurality of longitudinal compartments forming passages for at least one of the second principal cycle fluid and the fluid to be liquefied, these latter compartments extending to the cold end of the exchanger. The addition of the secondary fluid to the first principal fluid takes place in a distributed manner into each low pressure compartment in at least one transverse volume extending along the thickness of the exchanger, this volume being located at heat exchange distance from the inlets and outlets of the compartments forming passages for the first principal fluid under low pressure.

摘要： The invention relates to a method of liquefying a gas, in particular a natural gas by cooling it under pressure in stages, of the kind comprising cooling the gas by means of at least two refrigerants, one refrigerant circulating in a closed refrigeration circuit and another refrigerant circulating in another closed refrigeration circuit, wherein the compositions of the various refrigerants differ from each other. According to the invention a compressor in a closed refrigeration circuit is driven by a gas turbine and the refrigerant circulating in the last mentioned closed refrigeration circuit is cooled by ambient air after compression. Furthermore, according to the invention, in addition to the compressor an electricity generator is driven by the gas turbine in such a manner that, when extra gas turbine power is available because of a variation of the ambient air temperature, so much electric power is generated that the gas turbine is caused to operate at, or at about, its design load. Said electric power is passed to an auxiliary electric motor coupled to a compressor with driving means in another closed refrigeration circuit, so as to deliver extra driving power to said compressor. The invention relates moreover to a system for carrying out the method according to the invention (see drawing).

摘要： An installation for producing liquefied natural gas comprises a precooling circuit (1) and a main cooling circuit (2) containing cooling medium for cooling the natural gas, each of the cooling circuits (1, 2) comprising at least one compressor (4 resp. 15, 16) for compressing the cooling medium of the circuit. The compressors (4, 15, 16) in the precooling circuit (1) and the main cooling circuit (2) are mechanically interconnected and are arranged to be driven by a single common gas turbine (42). This is preferably a single shaft turbine having an essentially fixed drive speed during operation, an auxiliary engine (44) being arranged for start-up of the gas turbine (42) and the compressors (4, 15, 16), and for possibly assisting the gas turbine during operation.
