摘要： A novel admixture for mineral binders is composed of a polyol composition with a high hydrogenated disaccharide content (null40%). The hydrogenated disaccharide is advantageously chosen from maltitol, lactitol and mixtures thereof. Within the admixture, the polyol composition (for example, maltitol powder, a maltitol syrup or a hydrogenated starch hydrolysate) may be combined with conventional admixtures for mineral binders, particularly lignosulfonates. The hydrogenated disaccharides make it possible to obtain an excellent compromise between retardation, plasticity and the mechanical properties of the mineral binder. They may be used equally well for admixing with cements and raw materials for cements as for admixing with mortars, slurries and concretes.

In some embodiments, the present invention provides cement compositions that comprise a hydraulic cement comprising an API cement, water, and a set retarder composition, the set retarder composition comprising an acrylamide polymer derivative; and an iron compound. 摘要： Methods of cementing in subterranean formations, cement compositions, and methods for making the compositions are provided. A cement slurry is passed into a subterranean formation, and a swelling agent is passed into the subterranean formation to reduce an amount of water flowing into the cement slurry. The swelling agent may be combined with a carrier fluid before being displaced into the subterranean formation. Alternatively, the swelling agent may be pre-mixed with the cement slurry to form a new cement composition, followed by displacing the cement composition into the subterranean formation. The swelling agent is present in an amount effective to, upon absorption of water and swelling to form a gel mass, substantially block the flow path of the water into the cement composition or reduce losses to low pore pressure intervals, thereby preventing the integrity of the cement composition from being compromised or lost to voidage, fractures, fissures, etc.

With lower dosages of dispersant than those disclosed in the prior art the admixture composition provides to concrete increased dispersant performance and acceleration of setting time and strength development.

摘要： Cement compositions comprising flexible, compressible beads, processes for preparing such cement compositions, and methods of cementing in subterranean formations using such cement compositions. One or more flexible, compressible beads are mixed with the cement before pumping the cement into a well bore. The flexible, compressible beads are preferably composed of an elastomeric material such as a copolymer of methylmethacrylate and acrylonitrile; a terpolymer of methylmethacrylate, acrylonitrile, and dichloroethane; a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer; and polystyrene. The flexible, compressible beads may be heated to expand the beads before mixing with the cement such that the ensuing cement composition will have a desired density. Non-flexible beads such as spherulites may also be added to the cement compositions.
