    • A multichannel, digital filter capable of operation in either decimation or interpolation mode. In a preferred arrangement, the filter includes means for receiving and storing data representing the number of channels M, the number of passes N for each channel, and mode data re­presenting decimation or interpolation mode. The multichannel filter receives a sequence of digital input values comprising time multiplexed samples from M input channels [1-8], and filters the input values from each channel to produce filtered output data for each channel. The filter includes N serially connected digital low pass filters for each channel. Low pass filter n + 1 is executed only half as often as low pass filter n, thereby providing a decimation or interpolation function, depending on the mode data. Novel means are described for sequencing the low pass filters and for storing the state variables of such filters. Means are also provided in decimation mode for outputting either a single pass N or all passes greater than or equal to N.

    • PURPOSE:To make a filter small-scale, by cascading a finite impulse response digital filter and an infinite impulse response digital filter between an interpolator and a thinner. CONSTITUTION:The signal sampled by a sampling frequency f1 is inputted to an interpolator 2, and a zero point is inserted to this signal. A low-pass filter 3 is provided to take out a signal of a frequency f1/2 or below of required components from the frequency spectrum of the signal obtained as the result. In the low-pass filter 3, a finite impulse response digital filter which is a noncyclic digital filter and has the end of the pass band lower than the half of f1 and the end of the attenuation band slightly higher than the half of f1 and an infinite impulse response digital filter which is a cyclic filter and has the end of the pass band slightly lower than the half of f1 and the end of the attenuation band slightly lower then the half of f1 are cascaded. The output of the low-pass filter 3 is thinned by a sampling frequency f2.
