    • A sectional door includes a series of track-guided pivotal door panels, wherein at least one of the door panels comprises several interlocked panel members. The panel members are of various widths so they can be assembled in different combinations to create a door panel of a desired total width. The panel members can be extrusions that are readily cut to length to match doorways of various widths. The ability to readily provide a panel in various widths and lengths makes such a door panel particularly useful as a replacement panel whose size needs to match that of existing door panels. In some cases, one or more panel members can be transparent to create a door panel with an integral window.

    • A method of manufacturing carved wooden doors includes the steps of forming wooden blocks with different width but same height and joining them together at a vertical lateral side thereof, joining said wooden blocks together to form a rectangular member for carving, carving desired patterns on said rectangular member, and carving a transverse recess on said rectangular member and affixing a panel in said transverse recess to form a complete carved wooden door, whereby carved wooden doors can be manufactured at a faster speed than the conventional and joint connections of said wooden doors can be prevented from becoming loose thereby prolonging service life thereof.

    • A lamella or panel element and a method of making the same wherein plate profiles are provided along joining edges with cross flanges which, when the profiles are brought together edge to edge, engage each other in an interlocking manner in a transverse direction. The flange portions are locked together by inserting a U-shaped or C-shaped profiled joining member which engages the outside of the flange portions on the side edges with a loose fit. The joining member may be inserted manually and extend over the length of the profiles and, the despite the loose fit, it is nevertheless possible to achieve a strong and tight joining since the long profiles do not extend totally rectilinearly. The joining members are arranged inside cavities of the plate profiles so that the joint members are invisible thereby resulting in advantageously obtaining an entirely smooth surface in the joining areas between the respective plate profiles.

    • A self-clamping spline and mortice joint is utilized at each of the corners of a rail and stile door. Mortices in each of the rail and stiles extend to the top or bottom edges of the door and a spline is received in the mortices and is exposed along the top and bottom edges of the door. Screws extend through the spline in opposite directions and into the rail and stile functioning to pull the rail and stile together around the spline. The self-clamping joint requires no external clamping. The self-clamping joint may be used on a plank-type door where the spline is L-shaped with one leg extending into the mortices and the second leg extending horizontally over the door and edges to cover the ends of the vertical grooves in the faces of the door. Weatherstripping on the door frame engages the horizontal leg of the spline and prevents transmission of air and moisture from the outside to the inside through the grooves.
