摘要： A garment is provided that includes an outer tubular garment portion and an inner tubular garment portion that are each fabricated from the same, continuous piece of protective material. By being formed from continuous portion of material, a user is provided with protection from ingress of fluids around an appendage when such fluid might be otherwise introduced through breaks in the material that rely entirely on a circumferential seam to secure separate pieces of material together. The inner tubular portion is not removable or severable from the outer tubular garment portion but is extendible to allow a user flexibility of use (e.g., stretching) without sacrificing performance. A method of creating a circumferentially continuous fluid impervious seal is also provided.

摘要： Shock absorbing structure for athletic equipment is disclosed in which a flexible air-tight fabric structure has an internal surface defining a cavity and an external surface adapted to be in fluid communication with the atmosphere outside the shock absorbing structure. The fabric structure includes a plurality of selectively dimensioned and disposed apertures which couple the cavity and the external surface of the shock absorbing structure in continuous fluid communication. A flexible foam portion having an open-celled structure defining a reservoir to releasably hold air is disposed in the cavity of the fabric structure and bonded, at least in part, to at least a portion of the internal surface of the fabric structure. In one embodiment, the flexible foam portion includes a multi-layered laminate of at least three open-celled foams of different foam density. The shock absorbing structure further includes shield structure to distribute the applied force across at least a portion of the fabric covered foam laminate.

The protective covering can be positioned across the top front portion of the clothing article and extend downward to a lower portion of the front of the clothing article creating an easy to clean particle and dirt resistant covering for the clothing article.

摘要： A method and device for reducing the damaging effects of radiant energy, blast, or concussive events includes applying pressure to at least one jugular vein to reduce the egress of blood from the cranial cavity during or before the incidence of the imparting event. Reducing blood outflow from the cranial cavity increases intracranial volume and/or pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid to reduce the risk of traumatic brain injury and injuries to the spinal column. Reducing blood outflow further increases the intracranial pressure and volume, and thereby increases the pressure and volume of the cochlear fluid, the vitreous humor and the cerebrospinal fluid to thereby reduce the risk of injury to the inner ear, internal structure of the eye and of the spinal column. In addition, increasing intracranial pressure and volume reduces the likelihood of brain injury and any associated loss of olfactory function.
