In one embodiment, both members of a straight bevel gearset are machined in a non¬ generated form cutting or a form grinding process. The tool profile has the shape of a mirrored involute which is determined from the equivalent spur gear of each respective straight bevel gear. 摘要： A method of applying a contrast agent, such as a luminescent contrast agent (e.g. fluorescent, phosphorescent) to the tooth flank surfaces (3, 4) of a gearset (1, 2) wherein the luminescent contrast agent is mixed with transmission oil and is preferably invisible to the human eye. While the members of the gearset roll together, the contrast agent-oil mixture (6) is first introduced into the mesh of the rolling gears. While the mixture is squeezed through the tooth contact, most of the oil is removed in the area of tooth contact. A camera (15), including, as necessary, a filter for certain light wave frequencies, obtains an image which shows the areas with and without luminescent contrast agent. The area (10) where the luminescent contrast agent has been partially or completely removed represents the zone of the tooth contact.

The inventive blade arrangement only requires a single type of blade (30) in order to simultaneously cut the convex and the concave tooth flanks of a gear as well as the root fillet and root bottom portions of tooth slots. The cutter system allows radial adjustment of the outside cutting blade and the inside cutting blade independently of one another. Additionally, inside and outside cutting blades may be exchanged with one another.

In contrast to known cutting blade configurations, the cutting blade (4) of the present invention has its cutting face (16) formed in a surface of the cutting blade that is located opposite to the seating surface or V-shaped seating surfaces (13, 15) of the cutting blade.
