    • A planetary gear train is lubricated via a distribution ring and a planet gear carrier oil supply passage in communication with the distribution ring. The gear train includes a sun pinion that engages a planet gear at a sun planet gear mesh. The planet gear is rotatably mounted to a planet gear carrier. The planet gear carrier is configured to drive an output shaft. The output shaft may be operatively connected to a load. The planet gear rotates within a ring gear at a planet gear ring mesh. The distribution ring surrounds a planet gear carrier and has a hollow interior that communicates with an oil supply. A planet gear carrier oil supply passage may extend through a planet gear carrier of the gear train and supply oil to a sun planet gear mesh and the planet ring gear mesh, and bearings of the planetary gear train.

    • A drive system powers a six-phase AC induction motor having a plurality of poles and a stator with a plurality of teeth where the number of teeth divided by six times the number of poles equals an integer number. The stator core has first and second groups of three-phase stator windings. The second group of three-phase windings is separated spatially by 30 electrical degrees from the first group. A first power supply is connectable to the first group of three-phase windings. A second power supply is connectable to the second group of three-phase windings. The second power supply provides power to the second group of three-phase windings that is shifted by 30 electrical degrees in time with respect to the first power supply. The first and second power supplies receive signals from identical pulse width modulator generators. The respective first and second pulse width modulator generators receive commands from one controller.

    • A coupling transmits torque between two shafts approximately aligned on a shaft axis. The coupling has a center axis approximately aligned with the shaft axis.     • An electro-dynamic machine has a rotor and stator with a gap therebetween. The machine has a frame defining a hollow interior with end cavities on axially opposite ends of the frame. A gas circulating system has an inlet that supplies high pressure gas to the frame interior and an outlet to collect gas passing therethrough. A liquid coolant circulating system has an inlet that supplies coolant to the frame interior and an outlet that collects coolant passing therethrough. The coolant inlet and gas inlet are generally located on the frame in a manner to allow coolant from the coolant inlet to flow with gas from the gas inlet to the gap. The coolant outlet and gas outlet are generally located on the frame in a manner to allow the coolant to be separated from the gas with the separated coolant and gas collected for circulation through their respective circulating systems.
