    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tin plating process that does not lead to the formation of a blue haze after reflow.SOLUTION: A method for plating tin includes the following steps of: (a) electroplating tin onto a steel strip in an acidic electroplating bath plating solution containing water, first stannous ion, an anion, and (A) an alkyl polysulfonic acid, a salt thereof, or a mixture of the alkyl polysulfonic acid and one or more salts thereof, (B) a mixture of an alkyl polysulfonic acid and sulfuric acid, or (C) a mixture of an alkyl polysulfonic acid and methane sulfonic acid; (b) performing one or more rinses; (c) optionally exposing the plated tin surface to an aqueous solution containing a specific organic compound; (d) heating the plated strip to at least the melting point of tin; and (e) either (i) quenching the plated strip in water or (ii) quenching the plated steel strip in a solution containing a specific organic compound. In addition, the method includes either step (c) or step (e)(ii).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving a pentane-blown foam suppressing smoke generation in burning of the foam.
      SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method for improving pentane-blown foam which is obtained by using one or more kind of pentanes, comprising incorporating into the foam composition trans-1,2-dichlorethylene in an amount effective to suppress the smoke generation of the blown foam. The pentane preferably used in the method comprises n-pentane, iso-pentane, a mixture of n-pentane and iso-pentane, cyclopentane and a mixture of cyclopentane and iso-pentane. The foaming resin preferably used in the method comprises a polyisocyanate, a polyol, one or more kind of pentanes and the trans-1,2-dichlorethylene in an amount effective to suppress the smoke generation of the blown foam.
