A valve opening mechanism is provided for opening the first valve member, and mechanically connecting the second valve member with the first valve member, to open the second valve member when the auxiliary piston is retracted from its advanced state to its initial position.

    • An image forming apparatus includes a belt unit detachable from a main body, a sensor unit, a blocking member, a moving mechanism, and a determination portion. The sensor unit includes a light emitting element configured to emit an outgoing light toward the belt, a first light receiving element configured to output a first signal, and a second light receiving element. The blocking member includes a first window and a second window. The moving mechanism is configured to move the blocking member between a first position in which the outgoing light passes the first window and a second position in which the outgoing light passes through the second window. The determination portion is configured to, when the blocking member is in the second position, determine whether the belt unit is attached to the main body based on the first signal output from the first light receiving element.

A pair of left and right memory cells is formed in a memory cell formation region of a P-type silicon substrate, being symmetrical to each other with respect to a source region, and a capacitor element formed of a lower electrode, a capacitor insulation film, and an upper electrode is formed in a capacitor element formation region of the same P-type silicon substrate. The lower electrode of the capacitor element is formed by patterning a polysilicon film provided for forming control gates of the pair of memory cells.

    • A master cylinder includes primary and secondary pistons both slidably mounted in the cylinder bore of a cylinder. A stopper plate is disposed in the cylinder bore behind the secondary piston. A groove having a larger diameter than the piston sliding surfaces is formed in the inner wall of the cylinder bore at its axially intermediate portion. The stopper plate includes a pair of diametrically opposed flanges having an outer diameter larger than the diameter of the piston sliding surfaces and smaller than the diameter of the groove. The flanges are received in the groove and engageable with a shoulder formed at the rear end of the groove, thereby preventing excessive backward movement of the secondary piston. The stopper plate has a dimension perpendicular to the direction in which the flanges extend and smaller than the diameter of the piston sliding surfaces. Thus, the stopper plate can be inserted into the cylinder bore with one of the flanges located ahead of the other.

    • In an earth-based receiving station for receiving radio signals transmitted from a satellite relay station, a common first frequency converter and at least two receivers are provided. One of the receivers is used as a control receiver to receive a CSC carrier frequency transmitted from the satellite, to generate a first local oscillator frequency phase-locked to the CSC carrier frequency, and to supply the first local oscillator frequency to the common first frequency converter. Other receivers are used as channel receivers for receiving channel frequencies. In case when the control receiver is in trouble, any other receiver can be used as a control receiver.
