    • In order to detect the format of asynchronously, serially transmitted character data using a command signal which includes a plurality of command character data, wherein the beginning of each of the command character data is identified by a start bit, and the character length of each of the character signals is L (a positive integer), the start bit is detected and a train of pulses generated to enable each of the character data to be sampled; the character signal is sampled and converted into a corresponding parallel signal; each of the parallel character signals outputted are ascertained; the number of character data received is counted and it is determined if a predetermined matching is achieved.

    • A restriction plate (21) is provided on a lower surface of a near side of an upper plate of a chassis base (101). Both disk (D1) and disk (D2), while keeping in contact with a contact guide portion P1 of the restriction plate (21), are inserted. A stopper portion (P2) is formed at a farther side position than the contact guide portion (P1). A peripheral surface of a transfer roller (5) is placed in a moving direction of the disks (D1), (D2) proceeding while contacting upper surfaces of disk guides (2R), (2L) of a disk loading slit (20), and the contact guide portion (P1). Further, the stopper portion (P2) exists at a position corresponding to a direction of a tangent line which passes through the contact guide portion (P1), out of the tangent lines of the aforementioned peripheral surface, at positions other than the moving direction of the disks (D1), (D2).

    • A disk player includes comprises a magazine and a player portion. When a disk is played, the magazine is loaded in the player portion. A plurality of plates on which disks are to be put are stacked in the magazine. Each of the plates can be separated from each other by not sliding but moving upward and downward. In this separated state, a pickup arm which is equipped with a pickup and a chucking mechanism enters a portion between the plates. After the entrance, the plates in steps above the selected disk further rise, and the plate on which the selected disk falls. By the fall, the selected disk is put on a disk table in the chucking mechanism. Thereafter, a claw member protrudes from the disk table, to clamp the selected disk through a center hole of the selected disk. The necessity of a member for rotatably pressing the selected disk from above is eliminated. Consequently, the disk player can be made thin.
