    • A display apparatus automatically rounds corners of a rectangular area frame for display thereof, the rectangular area frame including that of a window or that of a graph and the like displayed within the window. The rounding is effected by automatically calculating and displaying circular arcs (ellipstic arcs) of corners based on the inputted corner coordinates of the rectangular area frame, or by not displaying one or several dots of each corner. In the case where multi-windows are displayed in an overlap manner or a plurality of rectangular area frames are displayed within a window, the corners are not displayed stiffly and emphasized unnecessarily, thus providing a visually soft and natural display image, improving the quality of displayed images, and providing an improved handy method for use by an operator. In a document editing apparatus, the corners of a rectangular frame of a window or of a rectangular area for display of graphs or the like in the window are visually recognized as being round, whereas the corners of a hard copy are formed with original right angles.

    • A telescopic system with a display in a visual field is provided. In the telescopic system, a microcomputer is mounted on the circuit board of a display device and is configured so that the short-time pressing of an ENT key is detected. When the short-time pressing of the ENT key is detected, the orientation data on a liquid crystal display unit is set into a fixed display state in which the orientation data is fixed to the orientation data obtained at the time. At the same time, the display state of the liquid crystal display unit is switched to a blinking state or a state in which the color of the backlight unit is switched to a lighting color different from the lighting color in a real-time display state in which the orientation data being changed is displayed directly, by the microcomputer via a lighting drive circuit, whereby the distinction between the fixed display and the real-time display can be performed easily.

    • Low aerodynamic noise type current collection equipment is provided for reducing variations in aerodynamic force applied to a current collector during train operation. A central region (2a) of a current collector (1) having a collector head (2) with a top surface in which a contact strip (3) is embedded is rectangular in cross-section, and each side region is shaped convex in cross-section in the front and rear directions, with e.g. an elliptical shape. The rectangular shape has characteristics such that the magnitude of the aerodynamic lift force would be kept substantially constant even if the inclination angle against the aerial flow would be changed. Accordingly, the cross-sectional shape of the central region (2a) of the current collector (1), which is liable to receive the turbulent aerial flow from the support portion (4) in the current collector (1), makes it possible to suppress the variation in aerodynamic lift force generated in the current collector even if the angle of the aerial flow that would collide against the current collector (1) would be unstable. The cross-sectional shape of each side region (2b) being made convex in the front and rear directions reduces the aerodynamic noise.

    • A reel shaft is mounted in a recording and/or reproducing apparatus such as a DAT unit for rotating a reel hubs in a tape cassette loaded in a predetermined position in the apparatus to reel up a magnetic tape into the reel hubs. The reel shaft includes a plurality of vanes secured to the outer periphery of a rotating body and adapted to be in engagement with corresponding engaging members formed in the reel hub. The vanes define respectively ridges extending in alignment with a center line in width of the magnetic tape when the tape cassette is in a predetermined loaded position in the apparatus. The reel hub is rotated with the reel shaft through engagement between the vanes and the corresponding engaging members, which is effected at specific points located on the ridges of the respective vanes of the reel shaft. Through such engagement, the axis of the reel hub remains coincident with the axis of the reel shaft during rotation.
