    • Apparatus for applying droplets of colored liquid to a surface includes a chamber divided into a liquid chamber portion and an air chamber portion. The liquid chamber portion includes an intake channel connected to a liquid supply container and a discharge channel through which the liquid is discharged for deposition on the surface. A pressure producing means is in contact with the liquid chamber portion to produce periodic pressure increases in the liquid in the chamber portion to eject it through the discharge channel to the atmosphere in a series of droplets. The air chamber portion includes an intake channel connected to a source of pressurized air and a discharge channel axially aligned with the discharge channel of the liquid chamber portion to allow the air to be discharged therethrough to the atmosphere at a high speed. The liquid droplets are thus discharged through the two axially aligned discharged channels and accelerated by the stream of air along their passage to the surface.

    • A playback apparatus includes a forming section which, on the basis of an audio signal to be played back, forms audio signals on a plurality of channels for emitting sounds from a pair of sound sources, and a signal processing section which, on each of the audio signals formed by the forming section, performs signal processing for forming a targeted sound field. The signal processing section inclines a sound pressure distribution so that, for each sound source, sound pressure levels of sounds emitted from the sound source to a listening position increase in inverse proportion to angles formed between emitting directions of the sounds emitted from the sound source to the listening position and a straight line connecting the pair of sound sources.

    • A multi-nozzle type ink jet recording apparatus arranged so as to eject ink from each of a plurality of ink nozzles toward a writing surface by means of an electric field established due to an ink ejecting signal applied to each of the ink nozzles. The ink jet recording apparatus includes a circuit for generating a density information signal indicative of a recording density at every ink nozzle and a control unit being responsive to the density information signal and having a plurality of memories. Each of the plurality of memories stores a density-to-signal characteristic being predetermined to correspond to one or more of the ink nozzle and the density-signal characteristic represents the relation between the recording density and the ink ejecting signal indicative of an ink ejecting amount ejected from each of the ink nozzles. The control unit selects one from the density-to-signal characteristics at every ink nozzle and generating the ink ejecting signal indicative of the ink ejecting amount determined on the basis of the density information signal from the density information signal generating circuit in accordance with the selected density-to-signal characteristic, the generated ink ejecting signal being applied to the corresponding ink nozzle.

    • An ink jet printer having a print head which comprises a front nozzle member having a front channel, a housing secured to the front nozzle member, and a rear nozzle member which defines with the housing a liquid chamber and further defines with the front nozzle member a laminar airflow chamber. The rear nozzle member has a forwardly projecting nozzle and a rear channel extending from the liquid chamber through the projecting nozzle in axial alignment with the front channel to form a meniscus at the front end. The airflow chamber is connected to an air supply for directing air to a point between the front and rear channels so that it creates a sharp pressure gradient along a path therebetween. A dead air region is created in a location adjacent the exit end of the rear channel to cause the meniscus to take a dome-like shape which is stabilized against vibrations and transients. An electric field gradient is established between the front channel and the meniscus to cause the latter to extend toward the front channel and expelled through the front channel.
