CONSTITUTION: An electron beam passing pore column 42 is bent to different shapes depending upon the position on an effective surface 34, and an electron beam passing pore 41 is tilted along the electron beam passing column pore 42. In an area where the till on the long side of an effective surface 34 of this electron beam passing pore 41 is pinched by means of the short side of the effective surface 34 and a point 1/4 inside of the dimensions between short sides from this short side, the electron beam passing pore 41 end part of the lon side is tilted the maximum in the positive direction closer to the short-axis direction of the effective surface 34 than the opposite side end part, and in the 1/3 inside of the dimensions between short sides from the long side, the tilt increases as the distance from the short axis of the effective surface 34s increases, and the tilt decreases or is inverted as it approaches to the short side so as to have the minimum value.

CONSTITUTION: A shadow mask 24 of a color picture-tube is formed so that the outer diameters of the long edge side and the sort edge side of a mask main body 35 are formed smaller than the inner diameters of the long edge side and the short edge side of a mask frame 25 except for welding parts of the mask main body 35 and the mask frame 25. A difference Δsy between the outer diameter in the long edge side of the main body 35 and the inner diameter in the short edge side of the frame 25 is formed larger in average than a difference Δsx between the outer diameter in the short edge side of the main body 35 and the inner diameter in the short edge side of the frame 25. In the case where an image at a high luminance is locally displayed for a short time, even in the case where the main body 35 is expanded and the stress is generated in the main body 35, a large stress to be generated in the long edge side of the main body 35 can be restricted because the angle of deflection of the electron beam at a central part of the main body 35 is small and displacement of the beam landing is small, and because the peripheral part is welded to the frame 25 and thermal expansion of the main body 35 is restricted.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the preliminary detection of the vibration resistance strength of a shadow mask by applying an alternate current magnetic field for excitation between processes for forming a mask proper and jointing a panel to a funnel. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mask 4 is mounted at an inspection position and an alternate current exciting current is supplied to an excitation coil 31. The frequency of a magnetic field is thereby varied continuously within a range of 200 to 500Hz and the vibration of each part of the mask 4 is detected via an optical sensor 33. Furthermore, a detected signal obtained from the sensor 33 is operated and processed with an amplitude read device 34, thereby obtaining the maximum amplitude of the mask 4. As the resonance frequency of the shadow mask 4 proper approximately agrees to the frequency wherein an electron beam in a finished color image receiving tube gives a maximum amplitude, the aforesaid method is used to detect and select a resonance point for the case of the mask 4 proper and it becomes thereby possible to eliminate the malfunction of the finished image receiving tube due to a vibration. According to this construction, a loss due to the detection of a defective product after assembly is eliminated and it becomes possible to make efficient inspection.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the image plane grade by correcting the difference between the action to a pair of side beams and the action to the center beam of a coma correcting magnetic field generated by a pair of auxiliary coils by means of a barrel-form magnetic field formed by a magnetic field forming means. CONSTITUTION:A pair of auxiliary coils 8 generating a magnetic field for correcting a coma caused by the deflection magnetic field of a vertical deflection coil 30, and a magnetic field forming means 34 forming a magnetic field for correcting the action to three electron beams 1a-1c of the coma correcting magnetic field generated by the auxiliary coils 8 are provided. The difference between the action to a pair of side beams 1a, 1c and the action to the center beam 1b of the coma correcting magnetic field generated by the auxiliary coils 8 is corrected by the magnetic field formed by the magnetic field forming means 34. Hence, the three electron beams 1a-1c can be accurately collected over the whole image plane to improve the image plane grade.

    • PURPOSE:To strengthen the spherical surface strength of the peripheral portion of a shadow mask with a pushing pressure caused by the insertion of a projecting part into a frame to prevent the local vibration of the shadow mask by providing the projecting part toward outside on the skirt portion of the shadow mask. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mask assembly for a color picture tube is constructed by inserting the skirt portion 7c of a shadow mask 7 made of a low thermal expansion material such as invar alloy or the like into the inside of a frame 10 and welding them at respective points on the horizontal, vertical and diagonal line. And projecting parts 12 toward outside are provided at least on the short sides of the skirt portion 7c, and the total length of the projecting parts is decided to be 35-85% of that of the short side. Thus when the skirt portion 7c is inserted into the frame 10, by the pushing pressure of the projecting parts 12 the spherical surface strength of the peripheral portion 7b of the shadow mask is increased. Therefore the local vibration of the shadow mask 7 due to the sound signal or the like can be prevented to eliminate the deterioration of the color purity.
