    • A vehicle presence notification apparatus may include a dynamic speaker for radiating a notification sound from a vehicle in an audible frequency, and a sound pressure supplement unit is provided to control a sound pressure of the notification sound. The apparatus may further include a parametric speaker for generating a supersonic sound of the notification sound from a supersonic sound generation unit. The supersonic sound is emitted from a sound emission opening. The parametric speaker may further include a reflected sound pressure detecting unit for detecting a sound pressure generated by a reflection of the supersonic sound from the sound emission opening. The sound pressure supplement unit increases the sound pressure of the notification sound radiated by the dynamic speaker based on the sound pressure detected by the reflected sound pressure detecting unit.

    • A vehicle existence notification apparatus disposed in a vehicle includes a sound wave generation unit that transmits a sound wave to an area outside of the vehicle, and a control unit that controls the sound wave generation unit to generate a notification sound. The control unit generates a stopping-vehicle notification sound for notifying existence of a stop condition of the vehicle, and generates a moving-vehicle notification sound for notifying existence of a traveling condition of the vehicle. The simulated idling sound enables a pedestrian to recognize the vehicle when the vehicle is in a stop condition, and the simulated moving-vehicle sound enables the pedestrian to recognize the vehicle when the vehicle is in a traveling condition.

    • All the components constituting an air-intake module for an internal combustion engine, including an air cleaner for cleaning air and manifold pipes for distributing air into each cylinder of the engine, are integrated in a single unit. A mounting flange connected to engine side ends of the manifold pipes is fixed to the engine for mounting the air-intake module as a whole. The air cleaner and other components of the module are located under the mounting flange and the manifold pipes, so that the mounting of the module is not obstructed by components constituting the module. An air cleaner element for filtering the intake air is slidably inserted into the air cleaner at a position where the element can be easily serviced from the outside of the module without dismounting any components of the module.

    • A noise silencer for reducing noise in an intake passage in an intake system has a parabolic portion for collecting noise, a noise accumulation room communicating with the intake passage through a communication passage and a noise discharge pipe communicating with an outside space. A noise collection valve is provided in the communication passage. When sound pressure in the intake passage is positive, i.e., larger than pressure inside the noise accumulation room, the noise collection valve opens the communication passage. As a result, a positive sound pressure portion of low-frequency noise is collected into the noise accumulation room and is discharged outside the intake system. Thus, the noise silencer effectively reduces low-frequency noise in the intake passage and requires less mounting space.
