    • An apparatus for inserting a spinal implant includes a first elongate member and a second elongate member operatively connected to each other. The first elongate member includes a first jaw member disposed at a distal portion thereof. The first jaw member defines a first longitudinal axis. The second elongate member includes a second jaw member disposed at a distal portion thereof. The second jaw member defines a second longitudinal axis. The apparatus further includes a locking mechanism adapted to fix a relative position of the first and second elongate members.

    • A cervical drill guide apparatus includes a handle assembly having a housing and an extension member attached to one end of the housing. The handle assembly includes a fixed handle and a movable handle. A distal end of the extension member includes a plurality of fingers that are radially expandable or contractible in response to relative movement between an actuation shaft and the extension tube. The fingers are adapted for releasably engaging an opening in a plate. Additionally, a guide member is releasably attached to the distal end portion of the cervical drill guide apparatus. The guide member includes at least one opening therethrough for receiving a drill or other surgical instrumentation. The extension member may be rotatable in relation to the housing.

    • A dynamic cervical plate includes a first end section and a second end section. In embodiments, the dynamic cervical plate may include one or more middle sections positioned between the first and second end sections. Each section may be longitudinally repositionable. Each section may include a plurality of openings for receiving threaded fasteners such as a self-starting screw or a self-tapping screw. In addition, each section may include an orifice for releasably mating with a drill guide. Each of the end sections may include a notch at one end for aligning with the drill guide or fixation pins. In one embodiment, a pin is used to interconnect the sections. In other embodiments, support bars are used to limit flexure between sections. In embodiments, one or more locking elements and/or one or more support bars may operably interconnect each section.
