    • The cryogenic fluid generator includes at least one pump assembly having an actuator mounted to a container assembly. A pump assembly housing includes a longitudinal positioning opening and a pressurization cavity at a distal end terminating with a pump assembly outlet. An internal check valve assembly includes a shaft positioned within an opening of the pump assembly housing that extends into the pressurization cavity. The shaft is attached to the actuator and includes a longitudinal guidance slot; a fluid passageway; and, an internal sealing surface. A positioning bar assembly is positioned within the guidance slot. A connecting rod is securely connected at a first end to the positioning bar assembly, the connecting rod being positioned within the fluid passageway and terminating with a flow inhibiting element. A seal is positioned between the pump assembly housing and the check valve to provide a closure for the pressurization cavity.

    • The system for providing computer guided ablation of tissue of a patient includes an imaging device, an ablative surgical computer system, and a set of surgical devices. The imaging device receives imaging data from a treatment region of a patient, processes the imaging data and provides imaging output data and imaging signals. The imaging output data is available to an operator. The ablative surgical computer system includes a guidance module for processing the imaging signals and providing a treatment guidance plan to the operator; and, a treatment module for acquiring and processing surgical device output data, for optimally controlling treatment parameters and providing feedback information to the operator based on the treatment guidance plan. The set of surgical devices includes at least one integrated ablative/temperature sensing device including at least one ablative device for providing ablation of the treatment region based on the treatment parameters and operator input; and, at least one temperature sensing device for acquiring temperature data from the treatment region and providing a temperature sensing device output signal. The temperature sensing device output signal is a portion of the surgical device output data. The treatment guidance plan is utilized for placing the integrated ablative/temperature sensing device into the treatment region.

    • Various embodiments of open system heat exchange catheters and methods of use are disclosed. The various catheters can be used with various ablative surgical devices. One specific exemplary use is in conjunction with cryosurgical probes involving ablation of the prostate, in which the integrity of the urethra is desired to be maintained. Other uses involve various heating ablative devices. In one embodiment an injection tube assembly is used to provide heat exchange fluid through the urethra to the bladder where it is then expelled via a suprapubic suction tube. In other embodiments a coaxial tube assembly is utilized which defines a passageway for either expelling the bladder fluid or for providing access to an endoscope. In other embodiments a double lumen assembly is utilized that defines a passageway for expelling bladder fluid.

    • A placement guide for positioning ablation devices within a human body is disclosed. The placement guide comprise an outer catheter and an inner tubular member disposed within a lumen of the outer catheter. When a stop on the inner tubular member engages a seat on the outer catheter, a distal projection of the inner tubular member extends from the distal end of the outer catheter. While monitoring the position of the inner tubular member through an endoscope inserted in its lumen, a clinician positions the distal projection within a human body for optimal ablation. After securing the outer catheter in position, the inner tubular member is withdrawn and replaced with an ablation device which is inserted distally within the outer catheter lumen until a stop on the ablation device engages the seat on the outer catheter wherein a distal projection of the ablation device extends from the distal end of the outer catheter. Because the distal projection of the inner tubular member has a length substantially identical to that of the inner tubular member, the ablation device may be positioned for optimal ablation.

    • The malleable cryosurgical probe includes a cryostat assembly and a cryoprobe assembly. The cryostat assembly includes an elongated shaft assembly having at least one malleable segment thereof and a closed distal end. The shaft assembly includes at least one freezing portion, at least one thermally insulated portion and a thermally insulating element positioned about the thermally insulated portion. A cryostat is operably associated with the elongated shaft assembly. It includes a cryostat inlet for receiving gas entering the cryostat, a cryostat outlet and a heat exchanger positioned between the cryostat outlet and the cryostat inlet. The heat exchanger receives gas from the cryostat inlet and provides heat transfer between gas flowing within the cryostat and fluid exterior thereto. At least one Joule-Thomson nozzle is in fluid communication with the cryostat outlet. The at least one Joule-Thomson nozzle expands gas expelled therefrom. The expanded cold fluid communicates with the freezing portion to provide cooling thereof. The cryoprobe assembly includes a handle assembly for supporting the cryostat assembly and a fluid supply line assembly connectable to a fluid source at one end and to the cryostat inlet at a second end. The heat exchanger is positioned at a location longitudinally spaced from the freezing portion(s).

    • Two embodiments for a stent delivery device are disclosed. In the first embodiment, the stent delivery device comprises an outer sheath and an inner tubular member which distally ends in a tongue having an arcuate cross section. In a second embodiment, the stent delivery device further comprises a housing having a lumen extending longitudinally therethrough, the lumen holding the inner tubular member. A guide pin attached to the outer sheath is slidably disposed within the housing wherein the guide pin may be longitudinally displaced with respect to the lumen. In addition, an endoscope mounting plate may be slidably disposed along the housing. Detents may be used to releasably prevent a proximal displacement of the guide pin within the lumen of the housing as well as to releasably prevent the proximal displacement of the endoscope mounting plate with respect to the housing.
