摘要： To provide an electrochromic display element, which contains: a display substrate; a display electrode; an electrochromic layer provided in contact with the display electrode; a counter substrate provided to face the display substrate; a counter electrode; a charge retention layer provided in contact with the counter electrode; and an electrolyte layer filling between the display substrate and the counter substrate, wherein the electrochromic layer contains titanium oxide particles, and metal hydroxide is dispersed on surfaces and in inner parts of the titanium oxide particles.

The ON electric field is applied so as to obliquely align liquid crystal molecules with respect to substrates constituting the liquid crystal optical device, thereby obtaining an ON state. The ON electric field has an electric field for driving the liquid crystal molecules and a non-electric field for generating a state wherein no electric field is applied to the liquid crystal molecules. The OFF electric field has an electric field for homeotropically aligning the liquid crystal molecules with respect to the substrates.

摘要： The liquid crystal apparatus has a segment substrate and a common substrate. Segment electrodes are formed on the segment substrate, while common electrodes are formed on the common substrate. A liquid crystal composition is sealed between the segment and common substrates with a seal member. The segment and common electrodes, the liquid crystal composition and the seal member constitute an elongated shatter portion including light shutters arranged in two rows. Liquid crystal reservoir portions are formed between the substrates and coupled to the shutter portion. The liquid crystal reservoir portions are resilient and thus can be deformed to suppress a change in the pressure applied on the liquid crystal composition due to a change in the volume of the liquid crystal composition. As a result, the formation of bubbles in the shutter portion can be prevented.
