    • PURPOSE:To allow the extension of combustion time and to improve fuel economy by operating the reactor under the in-pile pressure lower than the rated pressure in the initial period of operation cycles and operating the reactor under the pressure higher than the rated pressure in the end period of the operation cycles. CONSTITUTION:Since the reactor is operated under the in-pile pressure lower than the rated pressure in the initial period of the operation cycles, a void rate from the top end to the lower part of a fuel assembly is increased. As a result, the formation reaction of plutonium is accelerated in the region from the top end of the fuel assembly to the lower part and the plutonium is accumulated in this region. The reactor is operated under the pressure higher than the rated pressure in the end period of the operation cycles and, therefore, the generation of air bubbles is suppressed and the void rate of the reactor core is decreased. The output distribution has consequently a high top peak in the upper part of the reactor core and the accumulated plutonium is efficiently burned in the initial period of the operation cycles. The combustion time is, therefore, extended by as much as the burned component thereof and the fuel economy is improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress discharge of carbon dioxide by using electric power and thermal energy of nuclear power generation during night to produce and reserve fuel for peak power generating fuel in the daytime, and by burning this fuel for power generation in the daytime. SOLUTION: A mixed medium power generator 30 is connected to a nuclear power generating system 1. The system 1 is connected on an exhaust gas side of a steam turbine 5 thereof to a suction type refrigerator 2. The refrigerator 2 is connected to a low-temperature type liquefying device 21. The liquefying device 21 is connected to a storage cryogenic converter 4. The converter 4 is connected to a combustor 11 of a methanol gas turbine combined power generating system 26. During a peak demand for power generation in the daytime, reserved methanol, oxygen and carbon dioxide generate combustion gas to drive a gas turbine 12. The resultant waste heat generates steam, thereby driving a steam turbine 14. The waste heat of the steam turbine 14 generates ammonia vapor for a mixed liquid cycle to drive a mixed medium turbine, thereby achieving power generation in accordance with the peak demand for power. Carbon dioxide generated by methanol combustion is liquefied to be reserved.
