    • Methods and apparatus are disclosed for receiving user data in a wireless communication system (300) that employs coordinated multi-point transmission of the user data from a first cell serving a wireless terminal (635) and a second cell site neighboring the first cell site. In an exemplary system, the first cell site maps control signals (110, 230, 240) and user data to a time-frequency resources (220) according to a first mapping pattern, while the second cell site maps control data (110, 230, 240) and traffic data to the time-frequency resources (220) according to a second mapping pattern. An exemplary method comprises extracting (520) user data, according to the first mapping pattern, from time-frequency resources (220) of a first transmission for the wireless terminal (635) transmitted from the first cell site; detecting (540) a control element transmitted by one of the first and second cell sites, the control element indicating that user data associated with the control element is mapped to the time-frequency resources (220) according to the second mapping pattern; and, responsive to said detecting, extracting (550) user data according to the second mapping pattern from time-frequency resources (220) of a second transmission for the wireless terminal (635) transmitted from the second cell site.

    • Systems and methods are disclosed for using multiple configuration groups having corresponding configuration identity (CID) parameters to configure a transmission channel and a reception channel for a user equipment device in a cellular communication network. In one embodiment, a user equipment device in a cellular communication network obtains CID values for CID parameters for a number of configuration groups. Each of the configuration groups includes one or more transmission channel or reception channel parameters. For each of the configuration groups, the user equipment device configures the parameters in the configuration group based on the CID value obtained for the CID parameter for the configuration group. In this manner, the transmission channel and the reception channel for the user equipment device are configured based on multiple CID values rather than a single physical layer cell identifier for a cell in which the user equipment device is located.

    • The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for multi-stream wireless communication between a transmitter node and a receiver node. The method comprises applying an open-loop multi-stream transmission technique during an initial part of a transmission burst. In another step of the method, detailed channel state information is received (54). The detailed channel state information indicates transmission pre-coding to be used during the transmission burst when applying a closed-loop multi-stream transmission technique. The method further includes switching (55) from the open-loop multi-stream transmission technique to the closed-loop multi-stream transmission technique during the transmission burst, in response to receiving the detailed channel state information. The method is applicable to both uplink and downlink transmission bursts.
