    • A conventional vehicle lighting device entails difficulty in smoothly dimming a part at a downside of a cutoff line of a light distribution pattern. A shade-cum additional reflector includes a cutoff line forming portion which forms an opposite lane side cutoff line, an oblique cutoff line, and a cruising lane side cutoff line, of a light distribution pattern for passing, i.e., a horizontal portion, an inclined portion, and a corner portion, of a protrusion. Of an additional reflecting surface, in proximal to at least the horizontal portion of the protrusion, a spherical convex portion is provided as a diffusion portion for diffusing and reflecting a part of the cut off reflected light onto a side of a projecting lens. As a result, a lighting device of the present invention allows for smooth dimming of a part at a downside of at least the opposite lane side cutoff line, of a light distribution pattern for passing.

    • A reflector is constructed by arranging two first reflecting surfaces. The two first reflecting surfaces are arranged by making first focal points F1 of the first reflecting surfaces be alienated from each other, centering on the optical axis Z within an area of an effective diameter R of a convex lens, and making second focal points F2 thereof gradually come close to each other so as to be located inside the two first focal points F1. An LED is formed of two LEDs respectively arranged near the first focal positions, with light emitting points F1 thereof facing one of the two first reflecting surfaces. The obtained light distribution pattern has double quantity of light, and does not have a non-emission part inside thereof, and the combined light of the two LEDs can solve a problem of color irregularity.

    • A headlamp unit for a vehicle has two LEDs, two sub-reflectors, a main reflector and a convex lens. The sub-reflector reflects light emitted by the LED and has a reflective surface and an opening. The reflective surface is a part of an ellipsoid of revolution having a first focus position located to the LED and a second focus position located on an upper side of an optical axis. The opening is formed on an upper portion of the sub-reflector so as to substantially coincide with a horizontal plane including the optical axis. The main reflector is disposed so as to be opposed to the sub-reflectors and reflects light reflected by the sub-reflectors. The convex lens forward outputs light reflected by the main reflector to present a desired light distribution pattern.
