    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a restoring material for a tooth crown capable of suppressing the proliferation of bacteria in a mouth and further the occurrence of decalcification, dental caries or gingival hypertrophy in the mouth by uniformly blending a specific antimicrobial agent powder with a restoring material for the tooth crown. SOLUTION: This restoring material for a tooth crown comprises an antimicrobial zeolite powder holding an antimicrobial metal such as silver, copper or zinc thereon (preferably having 0.5-7.5μm particle diameter) in an amalgam, a resin, a cement, etc. The restoring material may be prepared by mixing, e.g. the inorganic antimicrobial agent powder with a resin component of the restoring material for the tooth crown and then molding the resultant mixture so as to expose at least a part of the inorganic antimicrobial agent powder to the surface part. The amount of the inorganic antimicrobial agent powder added to the restoring material for the tooth crown is preferably 0.5-3.0wt.%. The inorganic antimicrobial agent powder, especially the antimicrobial zeolite powder is preferably contained in an amount of 0.1-15wt.% in the zeolite. The inorganic antimicrobical agent powder containing the silver, copper and zinc, etc., is preferably treated with at least one coupling agent selected from the group consisting of an organoaluminum compound, an organosilicon compound and an organotitanium compound.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain an antimicrobial agent, comprising amorphous hydrous titanium oxide fine particles containing silver, excellent in strong acid and strong alkali resistances, capable of manifesting good antimicrobial activities for a long period and usable by adding thereof to a polymeric molding material. CONSTITUTION: This antimicrobial agent is obtained by reacting an aqueous solution of a titanate with a basic aqueous solution, providing amorphous hydrous titanium hydroxide fine particles, then throwing the resultant amorphous hydrous titanium hydroxide fine particles in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble silver compound, stirring the resultant mixture solution and supporting the silver on the amorphous hydrous titanium hydroxide fine particles according to a wet method or reacting a silver compound capable of vaporizing or liquefying by heating in a system containing the amorphous hydrous titanium hydroxide fine particles hermetically sealed therein and supporting the silver on the amorphous hydrous titanium hydroxide fine particles according to a dry method., The amorphous hydrous titanium hydroxide fine particles containing the silver thus obtained can be used as the antimicrobial agent. The silver is contained in an amount of preferably at least 0.8wt.%, especially at least 1.5wt.% in the antimicrobial agent. The specific surface area of the fine particles is preferably >=240m /g and the particle diameter is preferably 2μm, especially 0.8μm at the maximum.
