    • An apparatus and a method for receiving a signal in a communication system are provided to improve a decoding performance by performing a check node calculation and a variable node calculation by differentiating quantization schemes corresponding to the number of quantization bits. A method for receiving a signal in a communication system includes the steps of: receiving a signal; and decoding the received signal by an LDPC decoding scheme corresponding to the number of quantization bits and detecting the decoded signal as an information vector. The received signal decoding process includes the steps of: determining a quantization scheme corresponding to the number of quantization bits(611); quantizing the received signal to correspond to the determined quantization scheme(613,615); and check-node-calculating and variable-node-calculating the quantization signal, and detecting the calculated signal as the information vector.
