    • A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes steps of preparing first and second substrates, forming alignment films on one surfaces of the first and second substrates, respectively, performing rubbing treatment on the alignment films, screen-printing a seal member on the one surface of the first substrate so as to surround a display area, and stacking the first and second substrates on each other while the first surfaces face to each other, with rubbing directions of the alignment films on the first and second substrates being parallel to each other, and joining the first and second substrates through the seal member by curing the seal member while the first and second substrates are bonded to each other through the seal member. The screen-printing is performed while a squeegee is moved in a direction parallel to the rubbing direction of the alignment film formed on the first substrate.

    • A liquid crystal display device comprises a TFT substrate, a CF substrate, a liquid crystal with negative dielectric anisotropy filled between the substrates, a pixel electrode provided on the TFT substrate, and an auxiliary electrode formed around the pixel electrode. A slit for segmenting a pixel region into a plurality of sub-pixel regions is formed in the pixel electrode from the center portion of each pixel toward the periphery portion thereof. Molecules of the liquid crystal of each sub-pixel region are aligned toward center of the sub-pixel region from the circumference of the sub-pixel region by a horizontal electric filed applied between the pixel electrode and auxiliary electrode, and the shape of the end portion of the transparent step film.

    • In a liquid crystal display device, a liquid crystal with the negative dielectric anisotropy filled between a TFT substrate and a CF substrate, and the TFT substrate has a pixel electrode and an auxiliary electrode formed around the pixel electrode. The pixel electrode is a transparent electrode comprising an ITO layer, and has a slit formed from the center portion of each pixel toward the periphery portion thereof, for segmenting a pixel region into a plurality of sub-pixel regions. A recess portion for forming the center of the alignment of liquid crystal molecules is formed on the center of each segmented sub-pixel region. The liquid crystal of the sub-pixel region is aligned toward the center of the sub-pixel region by a horizontal electric filed applied between the pixel electrode and the auxiliary electrode, and, an oblique electric field generated at the edge of the slit.

    • A liquid crystal with a negative dielectric anisotropy is filled between a pair of substrates, on one of which an opposing electrode is provided while pixel electrodes and an auxiliary electrode formed around the pixel electrode are provided. The pixel electrode is a transparent electrode comprising an ITO layer, and is formed with a slit for segmenting a pixel region into a plurality of sub-pixel regions. The slit is formed from the center portion of each pixel toward and the peripheral portion thereof. The auxiliary electrode is also formed under the pixel electrode at a position which corresponds to the slit. Liquid crystal molecules of each sub-pixel region are so aligned as to tilt toward the center of the sub-pixel region when a voltage is applied between the pixel electrode and the opposing electrode.
