    • Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate sending a power control command in a wireless communication environment. A base station can send a power control command to a UE through resource elements reserved for at least one Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH). Thus, the power control command can be punctured into a control channel element (CCE) reserved for the at least one PDCCH. Further, the base station can convey an indicator that specifies the resource elements reserved for the at least one PDCCH used for sending the power control command to the UE. Moreover, the base station can use a structure similar to a conventional (e.g., Release 8, ) PHICH structure for sending the power control command using the resource elements reserved for the at least one PDCCH. For example, the power control command can be spread using one or more Walsh codes assigned to the UE.

    • In release 8 of the LTE standard ("Rel-8"), a control channel and its associated data channel for downlink may be found in the same subframe. However, decoding of the control channel may be difficult if there is strong interference from different cells (e.g., due to interference from strong/dominant interfering cells). Communication in a dominant interference scenario may be supported by performing inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC). For example, cells may partition subframes to avoid interference. For some embodiments, allocating resources for a downlink data channel on one subframe may come from a PDCCH on a different subframe, which can be referred to as a cross-subframe assignment. Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide subframe-specific search spaces that may be used when there is at least one cross-subframe assignment in a subframe.

    • In a wireless network (100) with HSDPA-enabled user equipment devices (130), the base transceiver station (120) transmits to each HSDPA-enabled UE information regarding allocation of HSDPA codes and associated modulation techniques for other HSDPA-enabled UEs. Using this additional control information, each UE configures decision feedback filter of its equalizer to reduce inter-user interference. The additional control information may be transmitted in a packet (300) that includes a CRC portion (310) with the packet's CRC masked by a common ID, which is known to the HSDPA-enabled UEs. To reduce the number of bits needed to transmit the additional control information, the HSDPA codes used with a particular modulation technique are allocated consecutively. For each modulation technique, only the beginning code and the total number of codes need be known to the UEs. The number of codes used with each modulation technique may be allowed to change once in several TTIs.
