    • A method and apparatus of controlling access to a system containing vital corporation software and storing confidential data assets situated in an open accessible environment is provided. The method includes calculating a signature value for at least one file usable with the system, transferring the calculated signature value to a signature file, and providing at least one signature value in the signature file and at least one associated file to a file system configured to be received by the system. At least one signature value and at least one associated file are inspected by the system to verify the associated file is a known system software application asset. The system comprises an input/output data port configured to receive the external memory storage device, and an operating system capable of reading system data from and writing system data to the memory storage device.

    • The invention relates to a method for automatically re-closing when there is a short-circuit in a line section of an electric energy supply line, whereby said section is defined by one switch respectively which comprises an allocated short-circuit detection device. According to the inventive method and after the switches have been released by a short-circuit, a re-closing instruction that is produced on the one end of the line section trips the switch on the other end. The aim of the invention is to carry out said method in such a way that the switch is treated with care as far as possible. The switch on the other end of the line section is tripped after a predetermined time delay provided that the short-circuit in the line section terminates during the time delay.

    • A phacoemulsification system with enhanced user utility and tactile operability includes a control unit and a handpiece with a needle and a vibrating unit that is configured to ultrasonically vibrate the needle. The handpiece includes a needle and a vibrating unit for ultrasonically vibrating the needle according to a variable parameter, such as frequency, shape, size, duty cycle, and so on. The control unit is configured to adjust the value of the parameter. A monitor is operably connected to the control unit for displaying a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI includes an adjustable control element, such as a slider bar, radio buttons, or handles, and an indication element that indicates the value of the parameter, either numerically or graphically. An interface device, such as a touchscreen, a mouse, or a keyboard, is operably connected to the control unit for enabling a user to adjust the control element. The control unit is configured to change the value of the parameter at least in response to adjustments of the control element by the user.
