    • A package for flowable goods includes an inner thin-walled plastic blown hollow body that receives the goods to be packaged and a supporting envelope without a bottom or a lid, with an upper stacking edge that surrounds the plastic hollow body and rests thereon in the packaging position. The plastic hollow body has a depression and the supporting envelope is provided with cut-outs that can be folded at least partially inward into the depression, that both act as fastening elements for the supporting elements, and form a handle for carrying the package. Engaging elements for the folded cut-outs are provided. In order to improve the link between the inner and outer package parts, the engaging elements form cams and are associated to an inclined projection formed in the plastic container in the pivoting area of the depression.

    • In a method of cleaning a paint application system when switching between two different types or colors of paint, at least a predominant portion of the first paint (35) remaining in a paint line (3) is caused to flow back into its paint supply container (5). Then the entire paint line is flushed out using a flushing medium, before supplying the second paint through the paint line. In this manner, the paint remaining in the painting system at the end of a painting cycle is not wasted, but rather is saved to later be reused. A paint application apparatus includes a paint supply switching device (4), at least two paint supply containers (5 to 8), a paint spray nozzle (2), and a paint line (3) connecting the color switching device (4) to the spray nozzle (2). Two receiver stations (28) and (31) are interposed in the paint line (3), and a shuttle element in the form of a pipe cleaner swab (29) is arranged in the paint line (3) so as to be able to shuttle back and forth between the two receiver stations. A pressure medium or flushing medium can be introduced into the paint line (3) between the first receiver station (28) and the spraying nozzle (2), so as to push the pipe cleaner swab (29) through the paint line (3) to the second receiver station (31). Thereby, the paint remaining in the paint line (3) is pushed back into the paint supply container.

    • Magnetic or electric field sensors are mounted against a material surface and used for stress, strain, and load monitoring of rotating components such as vehicle drive trains. The stationary sensors are mounted at multiple locations around the component and used assess the stress on the component at multiple rotational positions. The sensor response is typically converted into a material property, such as magnetic permeability or electrical conductivity, which accounts for any coating thickness that may be present between the sensor and mounting surface. The sensors are not in direct contact with the rotating component and are typically mounted on an annular material or ring that encircles the rotating component. Measurements of the annular material properties, such as the stress, are related to the stress on the rotating component and discrete features on the component. As a particular example, the rotating component is a planetary gear system, with sensors mounted on the ring gear and the discrete features are carrier plate posts. The sensors are preferably mounted at equal distances around the circumference of the component. The sensors and instrumentation may be removable and reusable for monitoring of additional components.
