    • The invention provides a pixel circuit that allows simultaneous correction of both influence of the threshold voltage of a drive transistor and influence of the mobility of the drive transistor. Correction means is connected to a drive transistor and a capacitance part, and operates during a correction period preceding to a sampling period. The correction period is separated into a reset period and a detection period. During the reset period, the correction means energizes the capacitance part to reset the potential of the capacitance part. During the detection period, the correction means stops the energization and detects the potential difference arising between the source and gate of the drive transistor during the period when a transient current flows through the drive transistor. The capacitance part holds the potential corresponding to the detected potential difference. The held potential includes both a potential component for reducing the influence of the threshold voltage on the output current of the drive transistor, and a potential component for reducing the influence of the carrier mobility thereon.

    • A display device includes a display unit, a horizontal drive circuit, and a vertical drive circuit, the display unit including pixels in a matrix formation, as well as respective signal lines and scan lines via which the drive circuits drive the pixels. Each pixel includes a light-emitting element, a hold capacitor, a write transistor, and a drive transistor. Mobility fluctuations in the drive transistor are compensated for by successively setting the voltage of the signal line to an intermediate voltage and to a tone voltage. In addition, the intermediate voltage is varied in accordance with the tone voltage as well as with the distance from the input terminal of a write signal to a respective pixel. The device thereby compensates for mobility fluctuations in the drive transistor and prevents shading due to irregularities in the waveform of the write signal.

    • A display device includes: a display unit including first and second lines, light emitting elements and pixel circuits; a first drive unit sequentially applying a selection pulse to the first lines; and a second drive unit applying a signal pulse including first to third voltages to each of the second lines. Each of the pixel circuits includes a first transistor sampling the signal pulse, and a second transistor driving one of the light emitting elements. The first drive unit applies the selection pulse when the first voltage is being applied by the second drive unit, before a correction of a threshold voltage of the second transistor is initiated and within a period that the one of the light emitting elements is being turned out, and the first drive unit applies the selection pulse when the second voltage is being applied by the second drive unit.
