摘要： The invention relates to data transmission in telecommunication systems and particularly in radio systems. The invention employs "payload numbering" instead of or in addition to conventional frame numbering. Data (61) is split into fixed-length data blocks or payload units (62). The size of a block is preferably equal to or smaller than the shortest information field in frames (63) of the protocol(s) used. Each protocol frame carries one or more payload units. In an optimum situation the length of the information field in a protocol frame equals n * the length of the payload unit, where n is an integer. Instead of frame numbering (in some special cases possibly in addition to it) the protocol frame carries payload numbers both for indicating the payload units (data blocks) conveyed in the protocol frame and for acknowledging the received blocks.

摘要： A method and system for performing a pre-reserved handover in a mobile communciation system is suggested, wherein an additional handover preparation step is performed by determining at least one candidate base station in advance, to which handover is likely to be performed. An additional downlink connection to the at least one candidate base station is established before handover execution is performed. Thereby, proper handover can be ensured for cell environments in which a serving cell disappears very quickly from a mobile station.

摘要： According to the method of the invention, connections are divided into at least two different connection classes according to their requirements for transmission delay. The control system of the base station subsystem maintains a record of the transmission needs of the users logged in different categories and based thereon divides the available radio resources into slots of suitable capacity. For connections with stringent requirements for transmission delay, circuit-switched connections are allocated with a bandwidth which can be controlled dynamically. Then from the resource pool still unassigned after the resource allocation to the circuit-switched connections, a sufficient amount of resources are allocated on a time-limited basis allocation for each allocation period to connections having a higher tolerance for delay so as to accomplish transmission, e.g. of a given amount of data.

摘要： The idea of the present invention is to enable the transmission of control information via several logical channels and to select the transmission channel dynamically by using a predefined selection rule. There are at least two logical channels that can be selected for the transmission of information. At least one of the logical channels available for selection should preferably also be a shared channel allocated to several connections for joint signalling. The parameters of the selection rule used in the logical channel selection can include, for example, the effect of the use of the logical channels on the quality of service of the connection which uses the traffic channel, the current usage rate of the logical channels, the number and priority of messages to be sent, and an estimate of the number and priority of messages to be sent in the near future.
