    • A thermal head controlling method applicable to a thermal printer, a facsimile and other thermal recording apparatus selectively energizes heating elements of a thermal head in response to graphic and text data which are fed from a host machine, thereby printing out the data. The energy applied to the heating elements is selected to be greater when text data are to be printed than when graphic data are to be printed. The thermal head is driven by producing, for a pixel being observed, correction data for odd dots and correction data for even dots while referencing data positioned predetermined numbers of dot lines before the pixel observed, data predetermined numbers of dot lines after the pixel observed, and data positioned predetermined numbers of dots next to the pixel observed.

    • An electrical connector that can provide stable contact between a signal transmission terminal and a short-circuit terminal even if the connector is downsized. The connector includes a main body having a plurality of terminal receiving cavities provided with lances by which signal transmission terminals are secured and a plurality of short-circuit terminal receiving cavities adjacent to the terminal receiving cavities for receiving short-circuit terminals. Each short-circuit terminal includes a bent part at a forward position and a contact at a rearward position. The main body further includes a window that is formed at a position to the rear of the lances corresponding to the contacts of the short-circuit terminals and through which the terminal receiving cavities and the short-circuit terminal receiving cavities communicate with each other. The contacts of the short-circuit terminals are in contact with the female terminals through the window.

    • In an image forming apparatus, a developing device is disposed adjacent to a belt-like photosensitive member. A rotary type developing device has a hollow cylindrical casing rotatable around a shaft having a central portion for rotation. The developing device includes a casing which is rotated in a predetermined direction, and four partitions which divide the casing to make four developing units which extend radially outward from the shaft. A toner storing section or hopper is provided on one side of the developing device, i.e., on a front side of the image forming apparatus, and a toner cartridge is detachable from a top of the hopper, and the toner cartridge is exchanged when an end signal of the toner is detected by a sensor in the casing. The toner hopper is filled by new toner from the toner cartridge, and the toner is carried by conveyor members, which control an amount of the toner in the casing, and a supply roller supplies the toner to a developing roller. Therefore, the device supplies a required amount of toner to a toner supply roller and a developing roller at all times. This provides an image forming apparatus with a great freedom of layout which needs a minimum sectional space relative to a photoconductive element and which, therefore, has a miniature configuration. Also, if amounts of transport of first and second conveyor members are adequately selected, a uniform developer distribution in a longitudinal direction without resorting to a complicated control is insured.

    • In a color image forming apparatus, a latent image forming device selectively forms on a photoconductive element images respectively corresponding to images of particular colors and a position mark latent image representative of position information. A developing unit develops the latent images with developers of respective colors to thereby produce corresponding color images, and develops the position mark latent image to thereby produce a position mark. The color images are transferred to an intermediate transfer belt one above another and then transferred to a recording medium. The position mark is also transferred to the transfer belt to form a position information portion. A position information detecting device generates a detection signal on detecting the position information portion formed on the transfer belt. A starting device starts forming a latent image on the photoconductive element in response to the detection signal. The apparatus is capable of forming a high definition full-color image free from color displacements, and reducing the total printing time.
