    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strip tip detecting device which can stably and surely detect the tip of a strip irrespectively of the thickness of the strip. SOLUTION: The control circuit of this detecting device consists of a bridge circuit 12 having a detection coil 12a, and a balance circuit 28 of low response (the time constants of PI adjusters 21, 22 are large and response is dull), which acts as follows; when the output of the bridge circuit is gradually changed by low periodic impedance change of a detection coil, the output is canceled, and when the output of the bridge circuit is rapidly changed by the rapid impedance change of the detection coil when the tip of the strip 1 passes the detection coil part, the out put is not canceled. A two-phase oscillator 15 which supplies an AC current to the control circuit and the bridge circuit is installed. A gap detector 14 measures a gap between a unit roll and a mandrel. When the measured value is lower than a specific reference value, a gain switching circuit 27 lowers the gain of a variable gain amplifier 17. Instead of the variable gain amplifier, an AGC circuit for making a trench signal of the mandrel constant may be installed.

    • PURPOSE:To detect the snaking amount and the width of a strip-shaped material accurately and stably by providing a pair of mounts, a pair of three-dimensional image sensing devices, purging devices, an image processing device, and an operating device. CONSTITUTION:Mounts 13 and 13 have moving means for movement in the width direction of a strip-shaped material. Three-dimensional image sensing devices 18 and 18 using optical cameras 18a and 18b and 18c and 18d accommodate both edge parts of the strip-shaped material 11 in the direction of the width in the fields of view. Purging devices 22 and 22 always purify the fields of view of the three-dimensional image sensing devices 18 and 18 effectively. An image processing device 20 computes the edge positions in the fields of view of the cameras based on the image signals from the cameras. An operating device 17 computes the two-dimensional position coordinates of the edge positions in the direction of the height and the direction of the width based on the edge positions by a triangulation method. The snaking amount or the width of the strip-shaped material is computed based on the position coordinates of both edges and the position coordinates of the mounts. In this way, the snaking amount and the width of the strip-shaped material can be detected accurately without the effects of up and down movement and the inclination of the strip-shaped material.

    • PURPOSE:To sense the distribution of the height under the adverse conditions by turning on and off the belt shaped light beam projected from light sources and obtaining the difference in image signals. CONSTITUTION:A rotating disk wherein slits are provided is installed in front of the light sources 5a and 5b. In a signal processing circuit, are provided a sampling circuit 23, a memory circuit 24, a vertical synchronization separating circuit 25, a counter 27, a scanning line setting circuit 28, a gate circuit 29, a differential circuit 31, a peak value sensing circuit 32, a distribution level computing circuit 16, and the like. The belt shaped light beam is intermittently projected to the surface of the stored material 2 in a tank from the belt shaped light sources 5a and 5b. Of the image signals obtained by a TV camera 6, the difference signal between the signal when the belt shaped light beam is projected and the signal the belt shaped light beam is not projected is obtained. Then the position of the difference signal in the received image is sensed, thereby the distribution of the light of the stored material 2 is sensed. In this method, the distribution of the height of the stored material can be measured without fail under the adverse sensing conditions.
