    • A novel active hood system is disclosed. The active hood system is designed such that in the event of a pedestrian/vehicle accident, the active hood system will soften the impact between the pedestrian and the vehicle by moving the vehicle hood into an elevated position. In some embodiments, the active hood system is constructed such that during a pedestrian/vehicle collision, the active hood system will raise the vehicle hood into an elevated position by having the hood move through a first travel distance and a second travel distance. The active hood system includes an actuator and a hinge. The actuator may be attached to the hinge. The actuator is designed such that if it is deployed, the actuator will raise the hood into the elevated position. Additional embodiments may also be made in which the actuator is vented during deployment. A dampener is also added to the active hood system. The dampener is designed to dampen the movement of the hood as the hood is moved through the second travel distance.

    • The Improved light emitting bubble creation device is an invention that because of it's ability to emit light throughout a bubble creation ring and bubble wand rather than a single point light emission and because of it's unique incorporation of electroluminescent fibers, causes a created bubble to take on a unique and appealing self illuminating appearance, especially when a bubble is in contact with a bubble creation orifice. The invention is further enhanced by providing a bubble solution container or reservoir that contains lighted bubble solution. Such lighted bubble solution not only creates an appealing appearance, but facilitates the process of bubble creation and play in low light conditions.

    • A printing machine driven by one electric motor or by individual electric motors controllable by their own respective associated control systems. The control systems contain a subsystem observer or a total system observer, which obtains from the actual rotational angle speed (.omega..sub.ist) or the actual rotational angle (.phi..sub.ist) as well as from the electric-current or moment target value or actual value of the electric motor, an observed load torque (M.sub.LAST), which is supplied to the adjustment element as a component of the target moment (M.sub.soll). This signal can be applied via a differentiating filter or, in addition, via the proportional element, to the summing point. Alternatively to or in conjunction with the observer, a periodic compensation controller is provided in the control loop. The periodic compensation controller provides deviation-control for periodic disturbances and obtains, from the differential angular speed (.omega..sub.D), a component (M.sub.2soll) of the target load moment (M.sub.soll). To improve signal quality, filters can be used.
