    • A beverage maker is disclosed with a removable filter carrier, a receiver for the removable filter carrier, and a locking mechanism to selectively secure and seal the carrier to the beverage maker by way of lifting the carrier to engage a sealing surface. In use, the filter carrier is linearly inserted into the receiver via a front face of the beverage maker. The receiver may also include the locking mechanism. The locking mechanism includes a lever that is actuated to operate the locking mechanism. Actuation of the lever is translated to lift and clamp the filter carrier against the seal surface. In the ‘sealed’ position, the lever is selectively fixed in place until the user actuates the lever so as to release the filter carrier. In the ‘released’ position, the filter carrier is still supported by the locking mechanism but it may be selectively removed from the receiver. The locking mechanism reduces or eliminates conventional issues with securing a filter carrier to a beverage maker such as properly aligning the filter carrier so that it may be secured to the beverage maker, the filter carrier disengaging from the beverage maker during use, or not being able to remove the filter carrier after a brew cycle.

    • A cooking vessel for cooking foodstuff includes a base that has an outer sidewall, a generally hollow interior and a generally open top. A lid is removably mounted to the base and complementarily covers the open top of the base in a first position. The lid includes a handle that extends outwardly from the lid away from the base in the first position. A lid holder is rotatably mounted to the outer sidewall of the base. The lid holder engages with the handle to support the lid in a second position. The open top of the base at least partially exposes the hollow interior when the lid is in the second position. The lid holder is rotatable between a support position and a storage position. The lid holder extends partially above the open top of the base in the support position and is entirely below the open top in the storage position.

    • A coffee maker has a housing having an upstanding tower, a carafe support platform extending horizontally forward from the lower end of the tower, and a fixed, tubular filter basket support extending horizontally forward from the upper end of the housing above the platform. A horizontal filter basket cover, including a water spreader, is disposed above the filter basket support and carried by the housing for pivotal movement about a vertical axis. A cover pivotal about a horizontal axis is provided over a water reservoir defined by the housing. A valve mechanism is provided that operates upon pivoting of the filter basket cover to selectively permit heated water to be supplied to the water spreader, thereby preventing burns or the like from heated water when the water spreader is not located above the filter basket support. The coffee maker also includes an electronic controller having a control pad on the front surface of the housing platform. A pivotal cover is provided to shield the control pad from spilled coffee or the like. To permit the filter basket to be easily removed from the filter basket support, the filter basket is provided with a pivotal bail.
