    • A memory card connector has an interior cavity into which a memory card is inserted to a temporary retained position and then to a fully inserted position. The connector includes a n insulating housing having a rear terminal-mounting section at a rear of the cavity. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the terminal-mounting section and have contact portions for engaging contacts on the memory card. A slider is movably mounted on the housing and is engageable with the memory card for movement therewith. The slider is slidable along a side wall of the housing. The slider has a projection engageable in a recess in a side of the memory card. A sheet metal shell covers at least a portion of he insulating housing and includes a cover plate overlying at least a portion of the cavity. A side wall plate depends from the cover plate and overlies at least a portion of the side wall of the housing. A spring structure is stamped and formed out of an opening in the side wall plate and is engageable with the slider to bias the projection of the slider into the recess in the memory card. The spring structure is integral with the side wall plate at opposite edges of the opening.

    • A card connector is adapted to receive first and second electronic cards, each having a plurality of contact pads. The second card being wider than the first card. The connector includes an insulative housing with a plurality of first and second terminals mounted therein for engaging respective ones of the contact pads of the electronic cards when the cards are inserted into the connector. A cover member is pivotally mounted on the housing to permit movement of the cover member between an open position at which one of said first and second electronic cards may be inserted and a closed position at which the electronic card inserted into the cover is operatively positioned within the connector. The cover member has first and second sets of positioning members configured to position and hold electronic cards exclusively at the desired location for such card and wherein some of the positioning members of the first set also act as positioning members of the second set.

    • A memory card connector (14) includes an insulating housing (16) defining a front receptacle area communicating with an interior cavity (22) for receiving a memory card. A plurality of terminals (20) are mounted on the housing in a side-by-side array transversely across a rear of the housing. The terminals (20) have contact portions (20b) at a rear of the cavity for engaging contacts on a top side of the memory card. A sheet metal shell (18) covers at least a portion of the insulating housing (16) and includes a cover plate overlying at least a portion of the cavity. The shell (18) has a wrong insertion-proof projection (78) formed out of the cover plate and extending downwardly into the cavity and into a slot in the top of the memory card when the card is properly inserted into the cavity. The projection prevents an erroneously inserted memory card from engaging the contact portions of the terminals. The projection (78) is bent into an elbow-shaped cross-sectional configuration to prevent scarring or cracking of the memory card when erroneously inserted into the cavity.
