    • A field emission lamp generally includes a bulb having an open end, a lamp head disposed at the open end of the bulb, an anode, and a cathode. The anode includes an anode conductive layer formed on an inner surface of the bulb, a fluorescent layer deposited on the anode conductive layer, and an anode electrode electrically connected with the anode conductive layer and the lamp head. The cathode includes an electron emission element and a cathode electrode electrically connected with the electron emission element and the lamp head. The electron emission element has an electron emission layer. The electron emission layer includes getter powders therein to exhaust unwanted gas in the field emission lamp, thereby ensuring the field emission lamp with a high degree of vacuum during operation thereof. A method for making such field emission lamp is also provided.

The lamp may further include a gate grid (62) and a gate electrode (54). The gate grid defines a number of grid holes and surrounds the cathode filament.     • A method for making a field emission cathode device is presented. First, an insulative substrate is provided. The insulative substrate includes a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The insulative substrate defines a number of openings extending through from the first surface to the second surface. Second, at least one electron emitter is provided corresponding to each of the number of openings. The electron emitter includes a fixing portion and an electron emission portion connecting to the fixing portion. The fixing portion is fixed on the first surface, and the electron emission portion extends from the fixing portion into the number of openings. Third, a number of cathode electrodes are formed on the first surface to fix the fixing portion between the insulative substrate and the cathode electrodes.

    • A double-faced field emission display device includes two parallel fluorescent screens (10, 10′) and an electron emission structure (20) located between the fluorescent screens. Each fluorescent screen includes a transparent substrate (21, 21′) with an anode plate (12, 12′) and coplanar fluorescent layers (13, 13′) formed at an inner surface of the transparent substrate. The electron emission structure includes an opaque insulative substrate (28) with cathode plates (26, 26′), electron emitters (27, 27′) and grid plates (25, 25′) formed at each of opposite surfaces (281, 282) thereof. Symmetrically opposite pairs of same electrodes are electrically interconnected so that the fluorescent screens can simultaneous display a same image. Only a single driving system is needed to achieve the simultaneous display.
