    • A method for making a riser tensioner component is provided. The method comprises the steps of (a) applying a cold spray composition to a metal substrate to achieve a first coating on the metal substrate, wherein the cold spray composition comprises a metal alloy, and wherein the first coating has a thickness in a range from about 5 to about 50 mils; and (b) rough finishing the first coating to achieve a second coating having an average roughness, Ra of less than about 32 micro-inches. A riser tensioner component is also provided, wherein the riser tensioner component comprises a cold spray applied coating on a metal substrate, wherein the coating comprises a metal alloy, and wherein the coating has a thickness in a range from about 5 to about 50 mils; and an average roughness, Ra of less than about 32 micro-inches.
